What a fantastic weekend it was at Concordia University Irvine! Our fall WOW (Week of Welcome) was a huge success, filled with energy, excitement, and new friendships. From the Parent & Family Orientation to all the engaging activities led by our amazing Peer Advising Leaders (PALs), the weekend was about creating connections, embracing our Concordia traditions, and making lasting memories. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event so special—here’s to an incredible start to the year!

President Dr. Michael Thomas and Vice President for University Advancement Tim Jaeger recently met with Bob Petrillo and Kyle Blake of The Gathering Lutheran Church, Long Beach, to express deep gratitude for their generous contributions to the Church Worker Scholarship Fund and the Cross-Cultural Ministry Center's All Nations Endowment. We are profoundly blessed by our donors, whose support has a lasting impact on our students and their futures!

Jared Arteaga '16 came to Concordia University Irvine as a transfer student and single father. Now a wealth management associate at Canterbury Consulting and a Concordia University Irvine Alumni Alumni Association board member, Jared is paying it forward by leading the Alumni Fund committee and supporting student organizations. Concordia helped Jared grow in faith and achieve his career goals, and he’s dedicated to giving back to the community that shaped him. “Concordia was a place where I could be a student and an athlete... Save the date for the Roger Williams Centennial Concert on Saturday, September 28, at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum! Celebrate the legacy of Roger Williams, the greatest-selling pianist in history and "Pianist to the Presidents," with performances by the Concordia Symphony Orchestra, guest pianists Hyunjoo Choi and Bryan Pezzone, and beloved American Songbook arrangements. The concert opens at 10:00 am with George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" and continues with other iconic pieces, followed by a panel discussion at 12:00 pm. From launching an activewear brand in her dorm to setting track records, Maria Sartin ’24 has made her mark at Concordia University Irvine. This spring, the New Zealand native won the Business Plan Competition and is now setting her sights on more athletic achievements. Maria credits her growth in faith and character to the supportive Christian community at Concordia. We’re so proud of her journey and can’t wait to see what she accomplishes next!

This year’s theme encourages us to find refuge in God’s unshakable love and to draw strength from His unwavering support. Whether facing challenges in the classroom, on the field, or in our personal lives, we can take refuge in God's peace.

Behind the scenes of Concordia University Irvine's recent children's play, theatre professor Tony Vezner collaborated with puppetry expert Everett Stanton to bring two life-size puppets, a penguin and a monkey, to life! 🐧🐒
