Last week our Engineering and Technology department hosted Hackathon, an annual event promoting innovative thinking. Teams collaborate to come up with groundbreaking ideas that create lasting value for our people. Congratulations to all participants and to the winning team for not only winning the Hackathon but also being awarded the Best Engineering Centric Design!

Shelley Simpson, our president and CEO, spent time recently with our drivers, trainers and team members in Ohio learning from them and listening to their feedback. She even went on a ride-along! We love having leaders who invest in our people!

In the third year of the J.B. Hunt Scholarship for Families program, we are excited to announce that we have awarded more than $533,000 in new and renewed scholarships! Here’s what Robby from Georgia had to say about what this program means, “As someone passionate about pursuing a career in music therapy, this scholarship enables me to focus more on my studies and research, rather than worrying about the financial burdens associated with higher education.”

Safety is one of our five company values, which means it’s part of everything we do. It was so great to see our team in Illinois visit a scale house to learn about the inspection process and the rules and regulations that impact our industry. There are always challenges we face in the logistics industry and cargo theft is one that has become more prominent. We work hard to ensure our customers’ freight is kept safe, so we’re proud to receive CargoNet’s Best in Cargo Security recognition for our efforts to address cargo theft.

Finding ways to invest in our people is so important to us, and when it comes to our interns, we love seeing them learn all they can about our industry. Recently our group of Customer Experience interns had the opportunity to learn more about BNSF Railway and see our intermodal service up close when they visited our Kansas facility.

Our Corporate Driver Personnel (CDP) team is responsible for hiring and onboarding both company drivers and contracted owner operators. These students will play such an important role in the future of the industry, so it’s exciting to see this incredible recognition for both the undergraduate and graduate supply chain management programs.

Good luck to the 15 J.B. Hunt drivers who are competing in this year’s Arkansas Truck Driving Championship! These drivers represent our Intermodal, Dedicated Contract Services and Final Mile Services business units and have between four and 27 years of service!
