Did you know that some properties are never listed publicly?

Known as pocket listings, these properties are sold “off-market.” The broker chooses who to share the listing with—usually an exclusive list of clients and agents.

Typically, pocket listings are used to enhance the seller’s privacy. They are especially popular for ultra-luxury listings or when the seller is a public figure.

However, not everyone supports the practice. In fact, the U.S.-based National Association of Realtors (NAR) requires its members to post listings on the MLS, in most cases—although the legality of NAR’s policy is currently being challenged in the U.S. judicial system.

Moving is a BIG step. But it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Keep these tips in mind as you prepare:

📦 Start packing when you start searching for a new home. Tackling a couple of boxes a day will give you a head start. And if you’re going to sell your current home, you’ll need to declutter anyway.

📦 Pack with unpacking in mind. Bundle items from a single room in each box. Then, clearly label it with its destination in your new home. This will save you time (and footsteps) when you unpack.

📦 Think outside the box when transporting clothes. If you plan on hiring movers, ask if you can leave clothing in your dressers. In many cases, they will use plastic to wrap the dresser so the drawers don’t fall out during transport.
