🚨🚨 NEW FAVE ALERT 🚨🚨If you know me, you know I am constantly educating myself. Pretty much every day I'm watching a video, listening to a podcast or reading a book- anything to help me level up as a stylist. Regardless of how much I try to soak up, it doesn't always click at first... UNTIL IT DOES and then BIG MAGIC happens. I've known all about root taps/shadows/smudges... but it wasn't a fit for me and my clientele until recently and once I started, I can't stop. I've gotten so many "I always love my hair, but whatever you did this time is my favorite." texts in the last 3 weeks. #WINNING This epiphany came after a week long education hiatus while spending time with my love in South Haven. I had fully committed to being present during my time off and it was the best thing for my mental space and my creativity and inspiration have been a nonstop flow and I'm OBSESSED! If only a full head of foils were applied this quick 😂 I've been asked a couple times lately- "what does teasing do?" "What's that board for?" Teasing pushes all the shorter hairs up/back to leave depth and help ensure a seamless blend- a must for creating soft, lived-in color. What's that board for? The board gives me a solid surface to paint on, gives me control of larger sections and allows for max saturation. Max saturation = max lift 💪🏼 I would love to take all the credit for my masterpieces, but I couldn't do it without my tools & continuing education! A week or so ago I asked you what you'd like to see on my page and one of the suggestions was a styling video so here is my quickie go to volume beach curls method! Products used wet: • Redken One United Leave-In Condtioner • Redken Guts Root Volumizing Spray • Redken Big Blowout Jelly for heat protection Products used dry: • Aiir Texture Spray • Aiir Flexible Hold Hairspray **if you haven't smelled these, they're aaaamazing** To avoid making the video too long, I had already curled the bottom sections alternating curl directions. •• The reason I like to alternate curl directions is to create volume throughout the style instead of the curls collapsing into each other creating bigger, looser curls. On myself, I prefer all the curls to be curled the same direction because I like that look! ••• I leave out the last inch-ish out of the iron and when unwinding the iron from the section, I pull it straight over the ends to create a tousled, beach look! Lighter ✅ Brighter ✅ Still low(er) maintenance ✅ Communication is key to reaching and maintaining hair goals. I tend to ask a lot of questions during consultations because I'd rather know we are on the same page vs assuming and not. If you don't feel like you're communicating effectively with your stylist, pictures are a great visual! I recommend: 1) looking up pictures similar to your natural color. This will give you the most realistic expectations. 2) pin pointing what it is you DON'T like so we know what to avoid. 3) this last one can be uncomfortable, but being able to openly discuss your budget. This will allow your stylist to road map your color without breaking the bank and no surprises at checkout.
