An enormous thank you to those who rescheduled making it possible for me to be with my family while we took care of my stepdad.

Happy Tuesday!! With a rough start to the year, I am back in action. Since moving to my new house over a year ago I've struggled with consistent signal, the problem should now be fixed as I've switched services. That being said, I am still working on returning texts. If you've texted recently and haven't heard back, please text me again and include your name just in case your contact info didn't carry over- it backed up from a 2021 back up so there's a decent chance I may not have you saved.

I ♥️ Pretty Hair
6/7ish years ago I decided to focus on specializing in blonde hair. I seemed to be good at it and I was getting referrals for it so I committed to most things blonde.
Right before the pandemic started, I learned of a former friend/fellow colleague sharing their "opinion" behind my back that motivated me to do and be better. It stung for sure, but I was humbled by it and took the time off during the pandemic to go back to basics- study my books, practice on mannequin heads and get my hands on all the education supporting my goals of being a blonde specialist!
Fast forward a week ago when I decided that yes I really like blonde hair but what I really love is simply creating pretty, healthy hair. I live for when a color brings someone to life. I love getting to be the first to see the ribbons of tones and dimension as I style their hair and getting to take Pinterest worthy pictures that make my heart swell with pride 🥰
From now on I am a pretty hair specialist. I want your hair to add to you being the best version of you. I want to revive dull color, I want to add fullness to fine hair, I want to make thick hair manageable- I want you to always love your pretty hair no matter what 🫶🏼
It is my mission to make my corner of the world happier one pretty head at a time ♥️♥️

Long post- stick with me till the end, there’s new info here 👇🏼
For starters, I do not love social media. I used to! I’ve slowly decreased the amount of time spent on socials - excepttt for tik tok 😬
I am a more of a follower than innovator in this industry so I was taking in all the info available on instagram- from free to pricey- I was trying to be good at all of it and apply all of it to my business because I believed these ways were going to guarantee me success. If I didn’t adapt to the changing client behavior, I was going to fall behind… no pressure there.
A few weeks back I started some private business coaching and realized I had incredibly over complicated my structure- it needed a complete overhaul and the task was daunting. I thought I had overcome burnout until this happened and I became discouraged and shut down.
I stopped taking/posting pictures, I stopped logging into my hair socials to avoid seeing anything hair related in my off time and started feeling dread going into the work week.
I took some time off coaching, both social accounts and made time to figure out what worked, what didn’t, what I liked and didn’t like… I’m simplifying and re-inspired.
From now on I will not be waiting until Mondays to respond to messages, it might be late but my goal is to text you back the same day!! (😱)This may take some time but I’m doing a ton better 😂 I’ve got a new website to finish and finalize my service menu- but it’ll be soon and I’m excited!! I will now always have products for sale aaand last but not least- this is a biggy for me, I am adapting to online booking. There will be trial and error with this, let’s all trust the process and make it successful 🤞
Whew! If you read all this, thank you 🙏 life gets weird sometimes. your support and grace don’t go unnoticed 😘❤️
Happy Hump Day ✌️
All appointments for June and July are booked ♥️ let me know if you'd like to be added to my cancellation list!
Summer weather is finally here ☀️
All available appointments can be booked online and/or via text 517.599.3237
Pro tip: to get the most out of your color appointment, coming in with clean, dry hair is preferred!!
P.S. don't forget sunscreen 😉
Hi friends- I had misplaced my appointment book for a couple days... I finally found it and will be chipping away at messages today and tomorrow in between appointments ♥️
What. A. Week.
Overall a very good week- but I experienced allllll the stylist emotions this week.
Most of the week was perf- but there were moments of struggle, panic, doubt, disappointment and teetering on the line of burnout... but all of it fixable.
All of it left behind in yesterday. I can't change it but I can learn from it and be humbled by it.
Bad days/weeks happen, show yourself grace ♥️
Blonde but brassy? Upgrade your blonding appointment today with a Metal Detox Treatment and it won't add any time to your time in the salon!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Metal Detox reduces the risk of breakage by 87% and protects the hair fiber from new metal particles from building up.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My favorite thing about this system is the support products you can use at home to maintain your color and reduce future mineral build up! If you've used Loreal in the past, you know there's nothing else quite like it- so to have something work so well and make your hair feel so soft seems too good to be true!!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Def don't try it if you want your hair to feel extra luscious when you leave the salon 😜
Happy Tuesday! If you've been in my chair the last week or so, you've heard me talk about a podcast I've been listening to that's diving deep into hair structure and color chemistry.
I wanted to share some things I've learned about hard water- which our area definitely has regardless of city vs well. This is long winded but there's some good info here 👇🏼
Hard water can make hair brittle, lack luster, dry hair out by not allowing moisture to pe*****te and create a reaction with hair color leading to undesirable results.
The hardness of water is determined by the amount of minerals present in the water. City waster usually has less mineral presence, but uses chlorine and fluoride to treat pollutants/contaminants- chlorine strips hair of natural oils resulting in dry and brittle strands. Over time, chlorine can make your hair more porous, weaken your hair causing split ends or change the color of your hair.
While well water doesn't contain chlorine, it does have calcium, magnesium, copper, etc. If you've got well water you most likely have a softener but you really should also have a filtered shower head for optimal hair health. (I need to take my own advice on this one!)
A chelating shampoo is going to remove mineral build up beyond the surface of the hair strand, including chlorine. Olaplex has my favorite chelating shampoo and is an in-salon service much like a Malibu.
The metal detox treatment neutralizes the minerals that cause a reactions with chlorine or hair color, cleanses them away and prevents them from building up again. This system is an in-salon treatment and also has support products to take home!
I'm obsessed with learning and could honestly go on and on- so to wrap it up- if you're a client of mine you would immensely benefit from either treatment and if you'd like to know more about them I'm be happy to share!!
Drop any questions you have for me below!!
Happy Friday 🍀 Happy St. Patty's Day!
I have some fun news to share- this morning I committed to an 8 week business coaching course! I've been struggling with deciding which direction I'd like to take my business and I woke up to an email that feels like it's made for me!!
It starts Monday April 3rd! Right now I'm excited but I'm sure as if gets closer I'll start getting nervous!
I've been peeling back the layers of my personal life and have been getting real REAL with myself. My career has always been my rock and my constant so this should be a vulnerable yet valuable experience!
Have you ever been coached? Any tips/tricks?
Reading before bed last night I came across a page that said:
"Experience one beautiful thing a day. However small. However trivial. Read a poem. Play a favorite song. Laugh with a friend."
•pg 72 The Comfort Book :: Matt Haig •
Besides experiencing this beautiful lived-in brunette, I've got a playlist of my current fave songs & will be gettin' stuff done around the house that will make the next few tomorrows a little easier 👏🏼
It was just the reminder I needed ♥️ happy Wednesday!

Did you know?
Your hair color history could be holding you back from your dream hair!!
For example: I've been the only one to color her hair. I know that this is the third time we are highlighting in the last 12 months and last time I root smudged her- that will be exposed when I highlight. I know that she has hard water due to the area she lives. I know that she hasn't ever needed heat/dryer or been over processed. I was able to cleanly lift her past the orange/brassy stage with minimal damage- this is huge because I didn't rely on a toner to correct that, it was lightened passed that and will not fade to that color.
Your hair color history isn't to shame/judge you- it's to make reaching your hair color goal possible while maintaining health.
If you're seeing a new stylist, be prepared to discuss your last 2-3 color services. Pictures from them are even better! If you can, ask your previously stylist what they used on you. Some stylists don't like to share their formula, but I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for the brand of color and if it was demi or permanent.
I like 1-3 years of color history- it doesn't need to be perfect, knowing what to expect is better than being surprised by what the "bleach" tells me 😜
Empowered women, empower women ♥️
Here's to the strong women.
May we know them.
May we raise them.
May we be them.
I am surrounded by women all day every day. Each with their own stories, experiences and strengths.
I love that being a hairstylist allows me to connect with women and learn about their lives and what makes them them.
Happy International Women's Day, loves ♥️
When was the last time you deep cleaned hair?
Yep- your hair needs some deep cleaning once in a while too! Everything from products, buildup and environmental pollution can start making our hair feel and look dull and/or unmanageable.
To give your hair a deep clean and reset I love Olaplex No. 4C! I've used many different clarifying shampoos, but this one by far leaves your hair feeling the best- still manageable, soft and definitely cleansed. Followed up with the no. 8 intense moisture mask and you've got the perfect treatment combo.
Have you ever used a clarifying shampoo? I truthfully prefer hair to come in squeaky clean before a color service- take home a clarifying treatment to try before you leave to prep for your next appointment!

Kicking off this week with an in-salon color class featuring a non progressive 10 minute color line- Megix-10.
I've also revisiting a program I've once completed because the modules have been updated and I've got a monthly zoom class/meeting at 2:00!
Education separates the ordinary from the extraordinary ♥️ do something today that inspires you!!
I just have to share with you my latest obsession!
Even though I love playing with hair all day- I've been rushing home to read my growing collection of books!!
I've always liked to read, I just didn't always make the time for it and since I really committed to reading more in October it's become my favorite part of the day!!
What are you currently reading?
I'm reading the Local Woman Missing
Share your favorites and I'll share mine, too!!
Spicing up your Sunday scroll with this gorgeous, shiny ✨ ginger!!
Maintaining red tones can be challenging, but here are a couple of my tips for keeping your reds vibrant!
• the fewer shampoos between color sessions, the better- definitely need to be using a color safe shampoo!
• washing hair in lukewarm water will help reduce color fadage.
• color services every 4-6 weeks max
• hats in the summer!
• if all over solid red, a color conditioner can be used to restore tone and prevent browning out!
My little secret: I specialized in blondes partly because it was in demand and it helped set me apart- I do love blondes but nothing makes my lil stylist heart explode with excitement like getting to play with red shades!
The red color family is vast and worn so beautifully- if you're considering a change to your look but not sure what, consider adding some red tones for vibrancy or richness!

What is your perfect appointment?
I know we all come to the salon for one main reason: we need our hair done.
But the ways in which we enjoy our hair appointment time can be super different. I’d love to know what your perfect appointment looks like and how I can serve you at your next appointment!
• Social. I love to sit and chat with my stylist and other guests. I like using this time to hang out and love the social interactions.
• Silent. I prefer a quieter appointment. I prefer to talk less and maybe scroll on my phone, read a book, or just close my eyes and relax.
• I’ll take your lead. I’m ok sitting and chatting but I also enjoy the quiet as well. I like to follow my stylist’s lead and either way I’ll have a good time.
What does your perfect appointment look like?

Closing out 2022 with a little bit of everything today- an all over color refresh, maintenance haircut & a volume weft move-up!
This past year has been one of my best as a stylist. I crushed my serve goal, I solidified my business plan & am the most confident in my skill set as ever!
Last night I was freeing up storage space on my google photos and I've got a ton of pictures from when I first started my lived-in color applications! I'll have to share some side by sides- the progress is undeniable!!
My top 3 goals for 2023 are:
1) In-person Hair Show
2) Expand my extension education- currently saving for a class!
3) New (to me) car!
I do set my own personal resolutions. I try to make them things that will intentionally help me attain my goals, I find them easier to commit to! Do you set resolutions? Or do you have any goals for the new year? Let me know in the comments!!
Happy New Year 🎉 and GO BLUE!!!

Fun fact!
I do my own nails 💅🏼
My nails are my tools! I use them to part hair, to clean up sectioning during extensions and to protect my fingertips during heat styling, etc.
Learning to do my own mani was a quarantine project- it hasn't necessarily saved me time or money bc I'm slow and it's turned into quite the collection!
I like to use soft gel tips with gel polish over top and they're as strong and as durable as acrylics!
