Morris chairs made from red oak that came out of Yazoo City MS!

Seniors Maddox Noe and Grey Thompson recently completed a Morris Chair in the Jackson Prep woodworking shop.

What a finish! Lots of late nights, exhaustion, and working till we can’t work anymore. I wanted to do a traditional mortise and tenon joinery, but due to the time constraints we choose a hybrid bolted half lap joint.
We couldn’t have pulled this off without the help of and our whole network of suppliers!
Can’t wait to enjoy this space for years to come!

Throwback to the very first lumber sale. This picture was after a hot Saturday of hand unloading my trailer. This was two years before Southern Specialty Supplies was officially formed. I had worked out a deal with and on a nice load of white oak lumber. Bruce took the majority of it, and let Bryant pick through the selects to get the pieces with the most figure in character. After that I got the bug to start selling lumber. However it took another two years before the right opportunity came along to formalize Southern Specialty Supplies LLC.

Seeing collection of vintage bandsaws reminded me of my 36” Tannewitz bandsaw. For now it is stashed away safely in storage. One day soon I’ll hopefully be digging it out to get started restoring it. For now I have my hands full with running the day to day operations of my business. O well, someday, maybe soon… you will be seeing more!
