Rho Lambda Omega Chapter's NCBA Committee hosted a Juneteenth field trip to the Smith Robertson Museum for the residents of NCBA Estates Senior Independent Living Facility. Our tour guide and sorority sister, Ms. Theresa King, shared the rich history of Smith Robertson School. The field trip was an opportunity to learn more about the history of Jackson through exhibits, quilts, and artwork. Throughout the tour residents smiled proudly when they recognized pictures of family and friends highlighted in the Freedom Riders exhibit. Also, a few residents reflected upon the day by sharing this was their first visit to the Smith Robertson Museum.

RLO held a Legislative Review, Tuesday, June 11, 2024, 6:00 PM at The Ivy Pointe. This phenomenal legislative roundtable consisted of interactive discussions about business policies, school issues, and the state of Mississippi’s economy.

A special thanks to Rep. Tamarra Butler-Washington, House District 69, Rep. Timaka James-Jones, House District 51, and Rep. Zakiya Summers, House District 68 for participating in this legislative forum. RLO would also like to thank the guests and MS constituents who brought suggestions, concerns, or questions to this open forum.

ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA SORORITY, INCORPORATED®, Rho Lambda Omega Chapter held its Youth Leadership Institute (AKA YLI) graduation at The Ivy Pointe.
AKA YLI’s interactive leadership development initiative aims to empower and engage our youth of today. The students enjoyed various hands-on workshops which focused on STEM, the environment, community service, cultural awareness and community service, and career exploration. Kudos to Ms. Tenesha Ates and the YLI committee for their hard work and dedication to this worthwhile program. 💕💚💕

Rho Lambda Omega Chapter and Upsilon Upsilon Omega Chapter GeNext Committee's collaborated and hosted "Let’s Get Fit with GeNext." Chapter members enjoyed exercising by learning the latest line dances. This engaging intergenerational activity was supported and welcomed by our Phenomenal Pearls. Before the evening ended everyone enjoyed a refreshing bottle of water along with healthy fruit snacks.

This weekend Rho Lambda Omega Chapter hosted a phenomenal mental health awareness event, Yoga On the Rez! Event participants enjoyed journaling, meditation, learning several yoga techniques while taking in the wonderful and magical sounds of nature. Also, valuable financial information was shared by our Build Your Economic Wealth Committee. Participants were engaged through an interactive plant activity lead by our Enhance Our Environment Committee. To top the morning off everyone enjoyed delicious yogurt parfaits.

Rho Lambda Omega Chapter members packed CHIPP Power Packs for students at Oak Forest Elementary School before summer break. Through our collaboration with Lambda Iota and a chapter wide donation drive, students will receive special treats and a variety of healthy foods. Each bag was filled with love and care!🩷💚🩷

Rho Lambda Omega Chapter and Upsilon Upsilon Omega Chapter hosted the Spring Bookclub Review of Miss Pearly's Girls by ReShonda Tate Billingsley. Members from the Metro Jackson Area Chapter's had a wonderful time engaging in a thought provoking and indepth discussion. The evening was highlighted with a Cinco de Mayo theme and filled with sisterly love, door prizes, and plenty of laughter. 🩷💚🩷

Rho Lambda Omega Chapter and Lambda Iota Chapter held a Pre-Final Bash on Millsaps College campus. Members of Lambda Iota collected can goods to donate to our Child Hunger Initiative Power Pack Program and provided a space for students to smash plates to decompress for Mental Health. This event was held on campus during lunch which gave students an opportunity to fellowship, dance, and enjoy a tasty snack. 🩷💚🩷

Rho Lambda Omega Chapter congratulates Dr. Juanita Sims Doty and the JSD Foundation for a magnificent and rewarding mentorship program! The National Choose to Grow Awards and Recognition Celebration Program was held Sunday, April 28th, was exceptional!

Soror Sallie Vaughn was recognized as our 2024 Mentor of the Year! Also, the “I Can Imagine” book of origin essays, written by students participating in the Choose To Grow program, was unveiled. Everyone in attendance received a copy of the book.

Many thanks to Mrs. Bobbie Brantley and Dr. Rosie Payton for serving as the program coordinators. We’re looking forward to continuing to serve as coordinators and mentors of the Choose To Grow Mentoring Program at Powell at Brinkley Middle School!

Rho Lambda Omega Chapter hosted our NCBA Spring Fling this past Saturday. The rain didn't stop the fun because everyone had a grand time playing games, painting, listening to music, line dancing, eating, receiving chair massages, and health screenings. Our YLI participants were on hand to fix their fabulous yogurt parfaits.

During our April 2024 meeting we had a wonderful time showing off our beautifully decorated umbrellas. Congratulations to our winners: 1st place Mrs. Letitia Newman, 2nd place Ms. Dionna Mitchell, and 3rd place Mrs. Julia Christian.

In support of our Build Our Economic Wealth Initiative we held our annual Spring Fling. This was an opportunity for us to recognize and support members with businesses. We had a wonderful time tasting delicious treats and shopping for unique items. We also welcomed the opportunity to partner with our YLI group by supporting their entrepreneurship project.
