Northeast florida bait and tackle shops

Pompano are still along the northeast Florida beaches! Fresh shrimp and live sandfleas are the go too bait right now!

With fiddler crabs scarce in northeast Florida bait shops, don’t forget Sheephead eat a variety of other baits!
Live shrimp, mussels, oysters, blue crab, mud crab and just about any other type of crab you can get your hands on. (Legal crabs)

Guys and gals, definitely call before you go to the bait shops to see if they have live shrimp. When it gets cold like it’s been the shrimpers have a little tougher time catching shrimp. The shrimp tend to bury down in the colder temperatures.

Don’t forget, if the bait stores are out of fiddler crabs the Sheephead also eat sandfleas, mud crabs and spider crabs.

Sheephead are chewing all over the river, but fiddler crabs are out at every bait store apparently. Time to catch some mud crabs!

Gonna be a rough couple of days coming up in northeast florida. The river should still produce some fish though!

Check your local bait stores for fiddlers because they are going out as fast as they come in.

Mud minnows are back in stock in the local bait shops!

Plenty of mullet along the beach right now and the redfish are thick!

Sandfleas and live mullet are producing very well in the northeast florida surf right now!

Get out and fish guys. The surf fishing is heating up!

I’m being told that mud minnows are hard to come by right now! If that’s the case, the mullet are pretty abundant right now so time to purchase a cast net if you haven’t done so.
