chlorine, sunscreen, and tanning products can affect your blonde!
some tips to last you through the summer:
• wet your hair at home and add leave in conditioner. Think of your hair like a sponge... if your hair already has a conditioner in it, it won't be able to soak up as much pool water/ocean water/ sun products.
Where as if you had nothing in your hair, it would soak up the pool water/ocean water/ sun products.
•use mineral based sunscreen as it doesn't react to your hair and also is better for your skin!
• tie your hair up and away to keep it safe from any sun products on your skin, and also to help with tangling in any body of water!
I hope these tips help, and please take care of your hair. With that being said, don't let it stop you from enjoying the moment.
This client, in particular, was doing everything right to prevent chlorine buildup, but unfortunately, her hair is naturally porous.
You can see her before and after, without any bleach touching the ends of her hair.
We did a treatment, and you could see the chlorine leaving her hair, turning the water teal!
There are solutions, but hair care helps and is important 😊
a literal barbie girl 😍
freshened up this beautiful girl's highlights and did a treatment to remove chlorine buildup. I'll make a post on that soon with her before and after!

13 hours later...
for the past 2 years, we have colored her hair black. She decided it was time for a change, and over the course of 8 weeks with two 6-hour appointments, she left as a blondie!
I'll tell you about our process:
Appointment 1: we started with a strand test. The strand test proved she would be able to have lighter hair safely. It would just take time.
Appointment 2: we started with her black ends and grown out roots (picture 4). I did a full highlight, which took about 3 hours. Her goal was to be as light as possible with a more dimensional root. So, I used her natural as a root. Once all the black was out of her hair, I toned and dried it all. (Picture 5) Then, I went back with some highlights to further try and brighten her hair up. (Picture 6) she left with those results, and her hair felt soft and healthy. This appointment in total was 7 hours long.
Appointment 3: 8 weeks later, she came back in, and I did a full highlight, which took 3 hours. Then, I washed it and went back with a root tap and half lowlights to create dimension at the root. I then shampooed and toned. Then we cut and styled her hair.
This session took 6 hours total, and her hair was in good condition but did feel dry. She is going to keep up with Olaplex and moisture treatments to help the health of her hair.
Our next steps are to see how it grows out for her and possibly lighten her ends more in our next session. The ends were the most stubborn, as they have been stained with the black color over the course of 2 years.
All in all, this took a lot of time and science, but I am proud of the results. In 2 sessions to go from black to blonde while keeping her hair on her head... that is not easy.
Thanks to my beautiful client for her patience and for trusting me through this process❤️
I know this is a long post, but I like to be transparent with what you can expect going from dark to light. Every head of hair is different, but this is a good idea of what you can expect.

TREND ALERT: raccoon tail 🦝
sooo I did something a little different this week! I did a super chunky highlight and added a raccoon tail per request.
This was so fun to do, and I honestly think it turned out so well. What made it better was how my beautiful client wore it, and it definitely makes her the coolest!!!

Come work with us at the best salon 🥰
2 years. Thanks for being good to me, ❤️
Swipe to see my reaction to seeing my name on my cabinet in the back room at Fusion for the first time.
I still remember being so excited to have found a salon home, and I remember posting the pic on my IG story saying something like, "this is to remember where I started," haha. I can't believe it's been 2 years, I still believe this is one of the best decisions I've made.
Thank you, Angela, for seeing the potential in me and Alana and Michayla for being amazing. I love my salon family 🫶
Also, thank you to my clients. Many I still have to this day, the ones who were my first few clients.
I'm always so grateful to you guys. Your support and trust mean so much to me.
Here's too many more years 🥂
lime green peekaboo & split color 💚🤎🤍
this beauty is always so fun to have in my chair because she's so creative, and her hair is never the same each time (but we are obsessed with the lime green... so we'll see if we want it to stay longer)
I love my clients so much 🥰
black box dye 0️⃣ kaydence 1️⃣
...6 hours later and multiple bowls of color, we achieved a blended, even toned result while still keeping dimension.
This client had used black box dye several months ago over blonde, so it had faded some, but it was still in her hair.
Please be mindful of any box color as the pigment in them is very strong, and especially putting it over any kind of lightness can compromise the hair if desired to lighten it again.
Box dye is extremely unpredictable, and before toning her hair, I pre-toned it to even out pieces that lightened more than others. I even ended up going back in after I dried it all to put some more foils on one side to ensure evenness of tone.
I am very transparent with my clients about realistic results, as health of hair is most important to me, and at the end of the day, I want my clients to feel happy with their hair.
The purpose of this post is to educate on box dye, and to show that it is possible to go lighter, but it is not simple.
I hope this was interesting to read 😊
5 tubes of color later!!
we did an all over color and added some foils around her face to create some dimension with the purple.
as her hair lightens as she washes it, she can maintain it with a purple depositing conditioner that can keep or adjust the tone of her color.
shout out to my mom too, for running to cosmoprof to get some more color so I would have enough lol 💜
