Nathan Wight, a former faculty member at Jacksonville State University, is a lyric baritone and rancher from West Texas. Dr. Wight has two bachelor’s degrees in biology and music from Abilene Christian University, a master of music from Rice University, and a doctor of musical arts from Arizona State University. He recently transitioned from his duties at JSU to homeschooling his son, who is an accomplished gymnast-currently headed to nationals. During Dr. Wight’s twenty years of service to the David L. Walters Department of Music, his most notable accomplishment was the founding of Jacksonville Opera Theatre where he produced more than 45 operas and musicals. Dr. Wight is an accomplished performer. He has sung with many companies including, Houston Grand Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Ars Nova, Arizona Lyric Opera Theatre, Buxton Opera House, and Opera to Go. He has also performed in the Edinburgh Festival, the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival, innumerable concerts, recitals, and Choral Concerts. He is also a skilled scenic designer, director, and lighting designer. In his spare time he hones his considerable culinary skills by preparing gourmet meals for his friends and the church he attends.

Past stage roles include Ernesto in Gaetano Donizetti’s Don Pasquale and Ferrando in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, both with the Jacksonville Opera Theatre under the direction of Dr. Nathan Wight. As a student at JSU, Ben studied with Dr. Nathan Wight and Mr. Eric Wilcox. He has been privileged to be coached by Amber Wagner, Dr. Kristin Ditlow, and Renee Tatum. Tessa Brown is an artist, worshiper, and teacher from Birmingham, Alabama. She is a graduate of Samford University with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. Her most recent stage roles include Edith from Gilbert and Sullivan‘s Pirates of Penzance, Pamina from Mozart’s Magic Flute, and Damigella from Montiverdi‘s L'incoronazione di Poppea. Tessa also enjoys taking part in many of Opera Birmingham’s pop up concerts and community events. Her work in classical sacred music has been greatly influenced by her time at Highlands United Methodist Church where she is a choral scholar in the choir directed by Richard Phillips. Tessa currently teaches voice and piano at a conservatory in Trussville, and finds joy in passing on the knowledge of music to her students. She gives all glory and honor to God for the privilege to share her gifts with her community.
