"Every storm runs out of rain. Keep pushing forward, because your strength and resilience will lead you to brighter days."
Happy Wednesday! Halfway through the week! Here’s a little motivation to keep pushing through, you’re almost there!
Keep in mind that filing for a disability claim takes patience and time. A great tip is to reach out to fellow veterans in support groups to share your experiences to know that you aren’t alone and to learn how they were able to successfully file.
Your rating codesheet will tell you which of your disabilities are static and which are scheduled for future exams. It will also inform you of when those exam dates are.
Ask your representative (VSO Agent or Attorney) for yours.
In order to receive disability compensation from the VA, you will need to demonstrate that you were honorably discharged from the U.S. military and that you have a condition that is connected to your military service: a direct connection, an aggravated connection, a secondary connection, or a presumptive connection.

You can request a copy of your claims folder from the VA under the Federal Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act.

The U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs (VA) is responsible for compensating military veterans who received a disability during their time in service. Depending on the effects military service has on an individual’s sleeping patterns, they may be eligible to file a VA disability claim for insomnia.

Happy Wednesday! We are officially halfway through the week! We got this! What’s something you are looking forward to this weekend?
Start by gathering all necessary documentation, submit your claim, and provide evidence of how your disability is service-connected. Utilize Veteran Service Organizations for assistance and keep track of your claim status.
It’s time to get the benefits you deserve.
If your VA rating seems lower than you were anticipating, don’t give up. Here are some next steps you can take:
Review the decision letter, gather additional evidence, request a re-evaluation, and file an appeal if necessary.
Remember, not to give up and that your service deserves the recognition it earned.
Happy Motivational Monday! Here is your reminder that you can do whatever you set your mind to! Let’s make this week a good one! What’s one thing you are going to accomplish this week?
When you submit a new application, you must use a 526-EZ. By “new application” I mean you are making a claim that you never made before.
But, what if you made the claim before? If the claim was denied before you must submit the claim on a 21-0995.
Now, what if you were granted a service connection on a claim more than a year ago, and you want an increase: 526EZ. If within the last year: 21-0995.
If you want a hearing after your claim has been decided the form is 21-10182 – which has three choices for the type of hearing you are requesting.

Understanding TDIU can help when trying to understand the claim process and how much you may be entitled to. TDIU recognizes that some veterans may not be 100% disabled according to the VA’s rating schedule but are still unable to work due to their service-connected conditions.
To apply for a TDIU, you will need to submit a VA from 21-8940, the Application for Increased Compensation based on unemploymentability.
