We are proud to announce the completion of the Bayou Brave project. After arriving last June for the vessel’s initial subchapter M drydock period, many challenges were presented. This was one of the first sub-m drydockings to be undertaken by all parties involved including the vessel owner, the local Coast Guard marine inspection office, and our repair team at SJBC. The challenges faced were all ultimately overcome through the combined efforts of the vessel’s crew, local Coast Guard inspectors, and our knowledgeable repair team. The final result is a great looking tug with many years of useful service ahead.

We have welcomed the Coast Guard Cutter “Stingray” all the way from Mobile Alabama.

This vessel represents a historic milestone not only as one of our single biggest repair contracts, but also the first 87’ cutter to be drydocked in a commercial facility during the last 6 years.

Intermediate bearing installation.

This vessel had no support across the entire 24’ length of propeller shaft other than the transmission fl**ge and the rear cutless bearing.

Our skilled crew fabricated foundations and installed two split carrier bearings to help provide intermediate support and reduce excessive vibration. Proper alignment was verified and chockfast orange was used to provide a quick and permanent support.

Dismantling a couple of former US Navy paint floats. These unique structures were once used by Navy crews as floating scaffolding for painting the sides of ships.

We will be saving certain components of these structures for work platforms to use around our yard. The rest will be sent to a local metal recycler.

Back to back inspections at the dock today!

Initial COI issuance on the Lindy Lou and second annual inspection on the Atlantic Endeavor.

Since Subchapter M implementation in 2019 our company has experienced a total of 6 Coast Guard inspections of which we have a 100% pass rating with only a handful of minor discrepancies. Local Coast Guard officials have stated our boats are the best in the area in terms of both cleanliness and compliance.

Our continued success comes solely from the professionalism and attention to detail of our experienced crew members. We firmly believe safety and compliance are too important to outsource.

Some great shots of a recently completed paint job on a 55’ Cheoy Lee. After some corrective fairing our paint department applied Imron MS600 to the freeboards. The bottom received two coats of Sherwin Williams Seaguard 5000 epoxy as a barrier and one coat of Seaguard antifouling.

You may also notice this beautiful boat is being showcased inside our newly constructed repair building. This building measures 50’ x 100’ and is in the process of being outfitted with a bifolding door, dust collection system, and several other choice pieces of equipment to ensure all vessels located inside receive the highest level of quality for refit or refinish jobs.

One of the most rewarding aspects of our business is the visits we receive from industry legends such as Monty Daly. Always a treat!
