1890s colorized photo, a stagecoach is crossing the "High Bridge" on the Otto Mears toll road. The route between the important mining towns of Ouray and Silverton (Colorado) was initially thought to be impossible to build a road on. Otto Mears, the region’s premier road builder, accepted the challenge and built what was know at the time as Otto Mears Toll Road – now it is called the Million Dollar Highway. This was a vital link between Ouray and the booming Red Mountain mining district.

Tack Box 4 H club had a great week at the State 4H Horse Show. 3 Rookie riders, their first time showing, where Champion, Reserve Champion, and won a class. Short Stirrup Kid on Annie’s Golden nugget horse was 3rd over all for the entire show of 179 entries. These kids have worked hard for these awards. Thanks to the parents, volunteers, and barn help that made this all happen. Ms Connie is beyond proud of your accomplishments. Now the work begins for next year 🥰

District 4H show weekend ended with all our students qualifying for the State 4H Show🥰

Alexis will be postponing the clipping of Snapple due to the temperature drop. Will do it next Monday at around 1:00 pm.

4H learning opportunity! Alexis will be at the barn on Monday to clip Snapple. Anyone who would like to learn how to clip and some common clip patterns are welcome to come out. She will begin at 4:30 to allow time to get to the barn after school.

Our Tack Box 4H club has had several outstanding meetings these past few months. These 4Hers really support each other. They have learned about wrapping horses legs from Nora Isabelle, Eohippus from Kay Lammerding and Art projects from Kate’s King. Keep up the great work 🥰

Great week at State 4H Horse Show in Raleigh this past week. Started with ribbons in Showmanship and winning the Geldings in hand! So proud of all our students at Moore Stables. Lots of fun, Benny even made an appearance to help clean up the barn. Alexis contributed to the Alumni showmanship class. We made it through several down pours to end our show with some great dressage rides, Elayna Samson was Champion in the Dressage. Big thanks goes to our crew back home taking care of the barn and thanks to our parents for supporting the kids! Until next year!!! 🥰🥰🥰

We will not be having lessons this Saturday at the barn. Sam Moore’s family will be having a Memorial celebration at 10:30am at the barn. All are welcome 🥰

First win ever at the State Horse Bowl Competition for the Tack Box 4H Club and Onslow County. Ms Connie is so proud of all our kids. They did great in Hippology also. 🥰

Want to thank our boarders, students. Friends and family for their support this past week at the barn. Mr Sam Moore passed away last Friday from a long battle with cancer. The family is planning a celebration of his life in May. Time and location will be announced when available. He will be missed 🙏🥰🥲
