Our Story
Did you know that a few short months after opening our doors for the very first time 22 years ago, Pickett Brothers Jewelers nearly closed down permanently? It’s true. On August 1st, 1996, entrepreneur and business owner Len Pickett opened Pickett Brothers Jewelers for the first time in the Publix shopping center off of Old St. Augustine Road. The store opened with very little capital and no reputation. Our services included anything from basic solder repairs to custom design work.
On October 7th, just two short months after we opened, Len arrived at the store to discover that we had been burglarized overnight. Everything had been taken. Len thought for sure that it symbolized the beginning of the end for Pickett Brothers Jewelers. However, the exact opposite effect occured. Members of the surrounding community who had heard of the event would stop by to hear the story and demonstrate support for the business through an increase of jewelry repair work. Without the community gathering in support of the jewelry store, it is likely that we would never have survived. We would like to thank those loyal to Pickett Brothers Jewelers for sticking by us during the initial hardships that we endured and for continuing to support us for the past 22 years.Visit the Pickett Brothers Jewelers story page soon to read the next installment of our story.
