Heads up that we are operating regular hours on , which is this upcoming Wednesday, June 19th. Stop on by and celebrate with us from 8am-4pm!
Here's a fun story!
A few months ago, we hosted a fundraiser for the Toussaint Louverture Cultural Center, New England's first Haitian Cultural Center.
When we were hosting the event, a few people went up to us and mentioned how much they LOVED the name Ula (we didn't name it -- our founders, Korinn and Kate, did -- but we took the compliment anyway).
They said, "do you realize what Ula means?"
In Haitian Kreyol, "Ula" has a very special meaning. It's actually written "Ou la" or "W la". But it's more or less pronounced the same way "Ula" is pronounced.
It means "you're here."
And you know what, we absolutely love that. It felt like destiny that Ula would one day be a Haitian American-owned business. Because when we're at Ula, we're all here. Together. Present in one space, as one community. Choosing each other.
Ou la. You're here.
Thanks for choosing to be our community ❤️
HAPPY PRIDE, Y'ALL!
[From the customer-appointed q***rest coffee shop in Boston]
Have fun, be safe, and shine like your beautiful selves all month long and especially today for those attending the Boston Pride Parade!
The parade kicks off at 11am from Copley Square. Hope to see you there ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🩷
JP Porchfest is coming on Saturday, August 24th and we are *filling our patio* with music all day!
Want to perform? This year, we're planning our own schedule and would love for you to join us out on our patio.
You'll need to commit to at least a 30 minute set between 12pm and 6pm on Saturday, and be flexible with when we schedule you.
Check out the link in our bio for the full application -- we'll be accepting applications until Monday, June 10!
This may completely shock you (because it completely shocks us), but Ula Cafe turns 17 today! 🎂
We wanted to throw a big party for you but we got busy with the summer rush. We'll plan a big bash next year for when we're legal!
In the meantime, share your favorite Ula memory from over the years. We're so grateful to have all of you in our ecosystem ❤

So thrilled to be supporting the OFFICIAL groundbreaking of the new Toussaint Louverture Cultural Center, New England's first Haitian cultural center!!
It's happening on May 20th from 6-8pm on Lovejoy Wharf, 131 Beverly St. in Boston.
May 20 is a very special day because it's the birthday of Toussaint Louverture, leader of the Haitian Revolution which granted Haiti independence in 1804, who is the cultural center's namesake :)
Check out for a link to RSVP to the groundbreaking. We hope to see you there!
Our favorite day of the year is coming and we can't wait for you to Wake Up The Earth with us!
Just like last year, Ula will have a tent on festival premises where we will be selling beverages and pastries.
If you're hungrier, we'll have breakfast and lunch available at the cafe, including LOTS of grab 'n go items so you can get back out to WUTE faster!
See you soon!! ❤
Creating a home away from home is hugely important to us at Ula. This is our neighborhood too -- and we want you to feel like it's your third space, your gathering place, and where you'll see all your favorite people. Where you feel like you BELONG!
If you feel this way, let us know in the comments -- and let's continue to be in community with each other ❤
Happy , all!
Are you running the Marathon? Stop by Ula anytime between today (Monday, April 15th) and Thursday (April 18th) and show us your marathon bib for a free drink on us! 😍
Please limit one use only!
Have we taken a moment to talk about how much we LOVE our coffee roasters, ? They really are the COOLEST!❤
Why we love them:
-They're a local small-batch roaster an hour away in Rhode Island
-They know all of their farmers on a FIRST-NAME BASIS!
-They try to support co-ops, including women-owned ones, as much as they can
-A lot of their coffee is organically made and fairly produced/traded
-Their owners are amazingly values-driven business leaders and we love working with them
Go check out their .ri bar next time you're in Providence!
Another bit of love from our community ! We love it when we've made an impact, especially for a busy film crew. You guys rock!
Funny because YOU all are the best part of OUR mornings!
Oh hey Wander Woman!
Did you know that our co-owner, Beth, is also a published author?!
Before joining the Ula squad, she was (and still is) founder of an international women's travel community called Wanderful ()
If you want to grab a copy of our owner Beth's new book, Wander Woman: How to Reclaim Your Space, Find Your Voice, and Travel the World, Solo, we have them for sale at Ula! Pick it up with your favorite bag of beans, or a latte made with love from our Ula team, and get inspired to plan that next trip, too!
*Scenes From Our and Book Launch Party!*
We had SUCH a blast at our very special International Women's Day party featuring the launch of our owner 's debut book, Wander Woman!

*Happy Spring!*
Now gracing our walls just in time for spring weather is new art by Haitian artist Jules Verna (also known as Marvin's cousin)!
Check out his gorgeous paintings that practically radiate light. You'll love them.
Are you a local artist looking for exposure in our gallery and the opportunity to sell some art? Send us a DM and we'll pass along a form for you to fill out with info about your work!
More stunning art gracing our walls, this time from the incredibly talented artist and illustrator .portman!
All of our art sales go directly to our artists and aim to support local creators and their craft. Come by Ula to see some of the beautiful art and take it home to enjoy forever!
Rose lattes are here and they are about as pretty as a latte can get!
They're made with our homemade rose syrup which you can add to any beverage (chai and matcha are both excellent options for a rosy drink too).
Stay tuned as our garden continues to bloom -- lavender lattes and scones will be here next!
We promised soup and soup is here!
Right now tomato basil and broccoli cheddar are on the menu. Add a grilled cheese for just six bucks.
Add whatever you want to the grilled cheese (may we suggest bacon, avocado and tomato?) to make it an absolutely perfect delight ❤️
Winter is ending soon, and we are expanding our hours! Woohoo!
Starting March 1, we'll be operating from 8am-4pm. We'll close espresso bar and the kitchen at 3:30 (which means from 3:30-4 you can have iced and drip coffee, hot and iced tea, pastries, and anything from our retail fridge and grab and go section).
We can't wait to see you come by!
It's one of our favorite social media posts to put up because it means we're about to add some awesome new people to the Ula family!
We're excited to share that business is picking up (thank YOU all for coming in and keeping us warm this winter!) and we're hiring new staff members to join our team!
We're specifically looking for baristas and front of house roles, ideally people with great customer service experience, open availability, and are looking for something full-time with an immediate start date.
We offer...
-Competitive pay ($21-25/hr to start!)
-Medical/dental/vision insurance
-Paid time off
-Paid training
-Free meals while working
-Fun staff activities
-An opportunity to be a part of an organization that strives to be a positive role model in our community and to give back to others
If you know someone (or you ARE that someone!) check out ulacafe.com/jobs for a digital application.
See you soon! ❤
Shining a spotlight on some of the *new art* that has been gracing our walls lately!
The first two are from JP-based artist Victoria Collins, and the second two are from collage artist and landscape architect Yisi Liu .
ALL of the art at Ula is available for sale, and all proceeds benefit our artists in residence!
Know an artist who should be up on our walls? Send us a DM with your email and website and we'll send it along to our volunteer curator, Anne!
Our owners Beth and Marvin are so pleased to announce the arrival of their third child, Beau, born last week!
We're working on getting him trained up on dishpit first but you'll see him working the bar soon enough (once we can be confident that he won't drink up the milk supply).
Thanks to everyone for your kind words and wishes! We are so grateful for our community and our village.
We're hosting a BOOK LAUNCH PARTY!
Did you know that our co-owner Beth wrote a book?
An avid traveler and creator of women's travel community , Beth has been working on this book for years and was really excited to get a book deal with . Now, the book goes LIVE on March 5 and we're celebrating with a big ol' party at Ula on !
The event happens Friday, March 8 from 5-8pm and we want you ALL to be there.

*New Jamaica Plain mugs are here!*
Designed by the amazingly talented artist Ryan Horton, these limited edition 2024 mugs are by and for our community -- and now they're available for purchase at Ula!
Every year, we'll collaborate with a local artist to design something special for the neighborhood (with a little nod to Ula hidden somewhere inside too).
Now you can have your own piece of one-of-a-kind art, and collect a new one each year.
Come on by to get yours (or you can order it with the rest of your order via Doordash if you want it delivered to your place)!
Thanks to Ben and Jordan for being our mug models ❤
Being inclusive means being food-inclusive as well! We try really hard to make sure our menu always has a good selection of vegan- and gluten-free options, from our gluten-free breads, to gf pastries, and even bowls!
GF folks, we'll always be thinking of you -- and trying to make sure that you have plenty to fill your bellies too ❤
