π Thursday Thoughts: Embracing Peace π
As we move through the week, letβs take a moment to reflect on the peace that God offers us.
π Scripture for Reflection:
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid." β John 14:27 (NRSV)
May this promise of peace comfort and guide you today. πβ¨

π The Rich History of Grace Episcopal Church π
Grace Episcopal Church, located in the heart of Jamaica, Queens, New York, has a history that dates back to 1702. Here are some fascinating highlights from our journey:
- 1702: The Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts sent Rev. Patrick Gordon to serve as "rector of Queens County."
- 1734: The first church building, named Grace Church, was opened, and our cemetery was established.
-1775-1783: During the American Revolutionary War, Grace Church served as the official church of the British colonial government.
- 1822: A new church was consecrated, with support from Trinity Church and local subscriptions. Rufus King contributed significantly, both financially and physically.
- 1835: The church received its first organ, a gift from the ladies of the missionary society.
- 1861: A devastating fire destroyed the church, including many precious artifacts and the organ.
- 1862: The present church building was erected, featuring stained glass windows and a new organ.
Today, our church stands as a testament to resilience and faith, continually serving the community with love and dedication.
