"I have lived along the East Coast for over 22 years, in Cleveland, New York City, Orlando, Rochester, and Tampa. I returned to the countryside of my childhood in 2001. Past curator, gallery owner, and scenic artist, I have been curating the Patterson Library Octagon Gallery in Westfield, NY since 2002. I create paintings in abstract and collage. Each painting is unique and hopefully reflects the beauty of the world around us telling a story along the way. I try to seize the essence of the landscape in my paintings and transport viewers alongside me on my creative voyage."

Chautauqua-Lake Erie Art Trail | North Shore Arts Alliance The hub crawl is an event that provides a route one can follow to visit many artists in one location, while other locations are individual studios. At each stop, you will find the artists who created the pieces and will be happy to talk to you about their work. You will find unique treasures for you...
Visit the Octaton Patterson Library Octagon Gallery from 5-7pm.
Although the NSAA Members Exhibition is completely installed with over 85 works of art in ceramics, fiber, jewelry, mixed media, painting, photography, and sculpture from 43 of our 103 total members who reside in Chautauqua County, as well as Pennsylvania, the artist reception and gallery talk will on May 24 from 5-7 pm. Visitors and artists can view it presently during regular library hours.
For 13 years I have been fortunate to install our annual NSAA Members Exhibition in the Octagon Gallery. This is to date the largest open call participation from the artists. This dynamic, colorful exhibition presents a wide range of mediums, styles, abilities, creativity, and passion. The demographics of this 13-year art alliance are fascinating: Ages ranging from 17-80;17 men and 26 women, 7 sculptors, 2 ceramicists, 6 photographers, 19 painters, 1 jeweler, 2 fiber, and 10 mixed media artists.
Having an open mind goes a long way towards understanding, and even appreciating art. It never fails to astound me just how lucky we are to have this much artistic talent in our rural area.

As I settle into another Cancer diagnosis I am reminded to have faith: in the surgeons at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, in myself, and in God. It's so important to look forward and to remain optimistic. Each of us walks through this life journey alone. I find comfort as I continue to surround myself with positive people and focus on my work at the Patterson Library and my art. When we are ill, we are forced into the solitude of our existence once again. During COVID-19, I created a series of works expressing our unified loneliness, and now this series is relevant to my own health journey into the unknown.
Thank you Audrey Dowling and Portage Hill Gallery for selling "Moving Day" over Art Trail Hub Crawl weekend!!! It's such a pleasure when an art patron connects with your artwork and takes it home to enjoy!!

An Artist year in Quarantine, March 19 - April 18,2021 at www.pattersonlibrary.info
In 2002, a year after I had moved back to my hometown of Westfield, NY I was offered a solo exhibition by then retiring curator, Sharon Gollnitz. Since then, I was hired as a curator in 2002. I had the recent opportunity to install my pandemic-inspired works into a virtual exhibition. Before Covid19 my husband and I shared our love of travel and nature which inspired and influenced my work. This year I looked inward through my time in quarantine and my studio provided me space for reflection and daydreaming. Creative studio work is appetizing for me as I am highly introverted. Experiencing isolation and solitude during the pandemic, I found the appeal of an assemblage of classical figures or decorative elements onto my sparse landscapes as a way to convey a story. I try to create serene and compelling paintings to affect mood and emotion during a time where our wellbeing is our priority. Thank you for visiting this online virtual gallery and I hope you enjoy my new body of work that I navigated through the pandemic. If you are interested in purchasing an original painting or print please contact me at [email protected]
Please stop by Portage Hill Gallery to see more of my work at 6439 Portage Rd, Westfield, NY 14787
My new assemblage and collage works created in 2020 . All of my works are inspired and reflect the turmoil in our world today:
Isolation, solitude, fear, anxiety, social distancing, masks, covid19, fear mongering, violence, safe living, living off the land.
and now, what you have all been waiting for ......an art film!!!!

Home for the Weekend from the Home Alone Series
The first of the "Home for the Weekend" series I blended my abstract works with an architectural element. This desolate prairie like scene was influenced by my travels and time in Wyoming blessed with the absence of industry and development.
I can't help but make a connection to the new peaceful feeling in my works transplanted in rural WNY. My new series is selected vision of my mindful recollections of this area and other quiet landscapes. This series also collects my memories of my happy childhood with my parents and the isolated feelings of loss in their death. Home for the Weekend Series combines my interest in abstract landscapes with a realistic subject in composition. The splintering of the family unit is made more transparent by the remoteness of the architectural element with darkened windows. The sadness one feels as death makes us orphans of our childhood is represented in this work.
