To those of you who have read my book: Mine gives you direction, this book gives you history, unvarnished. An absolute essential for anyone that wants to know where we came from.

Just a quick post to recognize that this is the 35th Anniversary of History Repeats Itself's first show at Nordic Hills Resort. Damn, time is FAST.

As the year winds down quietly for us, wishing everyone a 2024 that's 1000% better than 2023.

A wonderful holiday season from the Holly and the Ivy. May 2024 be 1000% better than this year.

Well, we have managed to make it until the end of the year. This one really was by the skin of our teeth. Unexpected expenses basically put us in the red for the year, so that hasn't been easy. A lean Yuletide, certainly.

Now to figure out how to get things repaired and up and running for our first leg of Tour 2024! I have to do SOMETHING to get our trailer in proper working order, so that we can bring all of our two stage shows, and our merchant shop down to Florida for approximately 12 weeks. Which means I have to repair or replace the axle and replace at least one tire on our trailer.

Also need to gather the funds for fuel, lodging, etc. for the trip down in the first place. I honestly hate that I find myself in this position whenever we have a gap in our touring.

For the first time ever, my heart issues are not my main health concern, and for that I am grateful. Now to try and get the diabetes under control. And hopefully, maintain our Medicaid for another year. I hate not having control of that situation.

I am grateful for our friends, family and fans, and hope you all have a wonderful Yule/Solstice/Christmas, etc. A merry New Year to all.

The next photo celebrating our 30th Anniversary is from 2011 at the late, lamented Chippewa Valley Renaissance Faire! Midnight University - A College of Wizards was open for business, teach folks and making magic! Andrew Rek was one of our awesome apprentice wizards!

For our 30th Anniversary, I'm going to post various photos from the last 30 years! This is September of 2004 on the Lady of The Lake on beautiful Geneva Lake in Lake Geneva, WI! A pirate mystery for the local chamber of commerce! We had a blast!

It was THIRTY YEARS AGO TONIGHT that this intrepid band of folks, along with some other awesome folks, performed our first show as History Repeats Itself. Did we know what would happen? Heck no. Did we care? Heck no! We were getting paid! Nordic Hills Resort's Renaissance Weekend was launched, by the awesome Laurie Woodhouse Lee thirty years ago. Thank you so much for trusting me (possibly more than I trusted myself!) It was a really fun show, and holds some really good memories for me.

How do you find the words to say how grateful you are for something that has lasted so long? How do you say thank you for three decades of entertainment, friendship, magic and fun? I'm not even sure I could list everyone that has worked for and with us over the years. There were the rough times, for sure, but we persevered. We had people come and go, and come back again, in some cases! I am so proud of all the things and all the shows and all the designs that our folks have gone on to create! We have amazing theater techs that have gone on to work for Disney and for Chicago Shakespeare. We of course have tons of performers that continue to entertain at Renaissance Faires and theatres and on film all over the place! We have a successful novelist amongst our ranks, and a number of amazing freelance artists, costumers, and filmmakers. We can say congratulations to a friend who's gone on to podcast at Nerdist, and there are a few that we still mourn, taken from us too soon. I had no idea where this was all leading back in the fall of 1988, when I spoke the most audacious words of my life, because I had no idea if they were true at the time, "We can give you a great show, and entertain all your patrons!" Turns out, we're not bad at that. :) So, 30 years later, as I realize that this is about the time I started casting for that first show at Nordic Hills Resort the next spring, I look back, and I am amazed that we managed to pull that all off. So, thank you my friends on that first cast, and ALL the casts since, for giving me a career I had no idea i was going to have!

38 weekends, 14 shows, 30,000 miles. Tour 2018 has finally come to an end! We are grateful to be home, and so thankful to all the faires and shows that hosted us, and to the wonderful fans that came out to see us again.... or for the first time! Thank you so very much.

So looking forward to Tour 2019 -- our 11th season on the road and our 10th Anniversary year for performing as Wonder Elixir, our THIRTIETH Anniversary year for The History Repeats Itself Entertainment Group, my 40th year associated with Renaissance Faires and Robyn's 35th year. 2019 looks very different from the past couple of years, but it's always great to start new adventures! The show went up the next spring, but I always consider that meeting the 'anniversary' date of the creation of the company. So, starting this week, we begin our THIRTIETH ANNIVERSARY TOUR. I have a lot of people that I'd like to thank, including that amazing first year cast, including Karen Bergquist Dezoma, Kevin Adair, Tony Hrubes, Amy Fredenburgh, Eric Sandeen. Franklyn D. Garland, Dee Kulacz with Parcel of Rogues, Karen Bonarek, Jolyn Gilbert, the late Gordon Bourne (R.I.P), Michael O'Toole, Scott M Tombaugh, Jeremy Kessler, Bartlett Meeks, Victoria K***z Tombaugh, April Cooley, Ajax Tiberius Mighty, my love and my muse Robyn Tisch Hollister, and of course, my original business partner, who I know can't see this, David Schmidt. We travel around the country an awful lot lately, and this is one of our freshest faces in our cast! He doesn't say much, but he's really intense on stage! We appreciate all of our past and present castmembers, and as we approach the THIRTIETH ANNIVERSARY of our company (!), I will be throwing some pictures and hopefully some video up from over the years.
