Volunteers from Rock County Human Services CPS Family Support came to KANDU for the United Way Blackhawk Region’s Day of Caring. We’re still putting the finishing touches on moving into our new building, so volunteers helped us hang pipe and drape in the theater room, paint different areas throughout the building, and organize some storage rooms. Thank you to all the volunteers and the United Way Blackhawk Region!

We are soaking up the last of the summer sun! ☀️ Minds in Motion clients visited Deer Park in Janesville, then took a stroll on the walking path near Milton's branch of the Janesville YMCA, and finished their excursion with a sweet treat from Cone Zone!

Livin' and Learnin' went to Palmer Park where Cycling Without Age took clients on trishaw rides, a program provided by the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Rock County. The clients had a great time enjoying the ride and soaking up nature. 🌳

The Cycling Without Age program is always in need of volunteers to pilot the trishaw bikes. Anyone interested in volunteering can reach out to the Mobility Manager at 608-757-5408.

The last time the Janesville Area Retired Educators Association - JAREA visited KANDU, they came to a presentation KANDU's Adel Street location in Janesville. This time, they got to visit us at our new location in Milton! We are so grateful for the long-standing support of community organizations like Janesville Area Retired Educators Association - JAREA 💙

Did you know Janesville has 27 incredible murals around the city? Clients in KANDU's Minds in Motion program explored Janesville's Public Art Trail for a day full of physical movement, social interactions, community integration, and creativity inspired by the beautiful artwork. 🎨🖌

Our Livin' and Learnin' crew had an incredible day at Lockwood Park - Rockford Park District where clients enjoyed a wagon ride, hung out with some cows, and went on an educational farm tour to learn about each and every animal. 🐮

Here’s one fun fact we learned: The color of a chicken egg can be predicted by the color of the mother hen’s ears! 🐔

We grabbed lunch at Lockwood, and then wrapped up the day by getting out some energy on the playground! Lockwood Park truly gave us a memorable day full of laughter, learning, and lots of animal cuddles. We can't wait for our next adventure! 🐐🐴🐷

A team from the School District of Milton Wisconsin visited KANDU's new campus at 15 Plumb Street. Many of our clients recognized or personally knew some of the visitors from the school district, and it was fun to see those connections blossom! 💙

If it’s summertime, ISP is spending time outdoors! Clients visited Veteran’s Park and the Milton Public Library-Wisconsin, where they all snapped photos with their favorite butterfly along the path! We love exploring our community!

Prevocational clients toured the Hoard Historical Museum in Fort Atkinson. They learned about dairy production in the National Dairy Shrine, Native American history and the Mysteries of the Mounds, The Hoard House, and the Civil War in the Lincoln Era Exhibit and Library. The clients had a great time exploring!

Recently Blackhawk Community Credit Union's Marketing Department visited Milton for a tour of our new facility. Clients were excited to show them our spacious production floors! Blackhawk Community Credit Union is a long-time supporter of KANDU and many other local non-profit organizations. 🤝

ISP had some fun with seashells and decorated picture frames! Activities like this allow clients to explore their creativity while practicing fine motor skills. And now we have a beautiful way to display our photos!

The Minds in Motion program enjoyed a delicious meal at Mary's Cafe in downtown Milton thanks to grant funding from the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, Inc - Milton Fund. The grant provides funding for KANDU’s Adult Day Services and Memory Care clients to explore and interact with the community.

KANDU recently moved to a new facility in Milton, after 60 years at our previous location in Janesville. This transition was a monumental milestone for our organization and a huge change for many clients who are used to the familiarity of our old location. The grant funding from the Milton Fund allows our elderly clients with disabilities and memory impairments the chance to become acquainted with their new surroundings through safe, structured community outings and activities. Milton has been so welcoming!

Let's give a round of applause to all the clients who competed in the Special Olympics bocce ball tournament. These clients won first place! 🏅

ISP clients went to Skelly's Farm Market to check out their sunflower fields. We were blown away by the size and beauty of these flowers! With this gorgeous backdrop, you bet we had to stop and pose for some photos!

A group of prevocational clients took a trip up to Henry Vilas Zoo last Wednesday and enjoyed the fresh air and lovely weather. We made sure the camel knew it was hump day, and even spied a lion, a tiger, and a bear – oh my!

Today Chick-fil-A came and visited KANDU! Clients and staff all received a free milkshake voucher and got to meet the famous Chick-Fil-A cow 🐄 Clients loved taking pictures with the cow and it put a huge smile on everyone’s face. One client said, “We’re all a part of your herd!”
