As we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we're reminded of Mary's unwavering faith and her role as the ultimate caregiver. At Catholic Charities Diocese of Madison, we strive to follow her example of selfless love and devotion.

Mary's assumption into heaven body and soul reflects the dignity of every human person. It inspires us to see the divine spark in each individual we serve, treating them with respect and compassion.

Just as Mary said "yes" to God's plan, we say "yes" to caring for our community. Through our programs and services, we aim to lift up those in need, offering hope and support to all members of our human family.

On this feast day, let's reflect on how we can embody Mary's spirit of love and service. Together, we can demonstrate Christ's love and work towards a more just world for all.

Saint Maximilian Kolbe, a beacon of hope and resilience, stands as the patron saint for those in recovery, battling addiction, or facing incarceration. His life, marked by profound sacrifice and unwavering faith, inspires us to extend compassion and support to those in need. At Catholic Charities Diocese of Madison, we are committed to embodying these virtues through our dedicated services.

Saint Maximilian Kolbe's Legacy:
Known for his heroic act of selflessness at Auschwitz, where he offered his life in exchange for another prisoner, Kolbe's story is one of ultimate love and sacrifice.

As the patron saint of addiction, he is a symbol of hope for those seeking healing and freedom from their struggles.

Our Mission:
To demonstrate Christ’s love and justice by caring in faith for the human family. Catholic Charities Diocese of Madison strives to uplift individuals and families across Southern Wisconsin, offering programs that address addiction, homelessness, and more. Our services are rooted in the Catholic faith, aiming to empower all people to live fulfilling and dignified lives.

July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to recognize and address the unique challenges faced by racial and ethnic minorities in accessing mental health care. Guided by the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, we affirm the inherent dignity of every human person and our commitment to solidarity with all our brothers and sisters.

Mental health disparities affect many in our community, often exacerbated by stigma, lack of access to care, and cultural barriers. As Catholics, we are called to stand with those who are suffering, ensuring they receive the support and care they deserve. Let us remember that every person is created in the image of God and deserves to live with dignity and peace.

We invite you to join us in prayer and action. The Catholic Health Association of the United States is hosting a Minority Mental Health Awareness Month Prayer Service, a moment to come together in faith and solidarity. Let us pray for healing, understanding, and justice for all who struggle with mental health challenges, especially within minority communities.

Walking in the Footsteps of the Apostles

As we celebrate the feast of the Apostle Barnabus, we are reminded of his tireless work in spreading the Gospel and serving those in need. The Apostles embodied the spiritual and corporal works of mercy taught by Jesus.

At Catholic Charities Diocese of Madison, we strive to follow their example each day. Just as the Apostles fed the hungry, sheltered the homeless, and cared for the sick, our programs provide food, housing assistance, counseling services, and so much more to our brothers and sisters in need.

This feast day, let us renew our commitment to the works of mercy. Volunteer your time, make a donation, or simply perform an act of kindness. Together, we can build a more compassionate community in the spirit of the Apostles.

"For I was hungry and you gave me food..." (Matthew 25:35)
