As we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we're reminded of Mary's unwavering faith and her role as the ultimate caregiver. At Catholic Charities Diocese of Madison, we strive to follow her example of selfless love and devotion.

🚗 Last week, our Community Connections participants had a blast stepping back in time at the Historic Auto Attractions museum in Roscoe, Illinois. A highlight for many was the chance to sit in the iconic Flintstones car – Yabba-Dabba-Doo! 🦴

We're incredibly grateful to the museum staff for making our visit memorable and helping our participants create such fantastic memories. Thank you for the warm welcome and the journey through automotive history! 🙏

🚶‍♂️ Exploring Delavan's Rich History! 🎪

Our Catholic Charities Community Connections participants went on a fascinating walking tour of downtown Delavan last week. We soaked up the town's history and were charmed by the unique circus attractions. A delightful journey through time and entertainment!

Our Community Connections crew had a blast at Juanito’s Pizza in Beloit for their monthly "Restaurant of the Month" outing in July. The food was excellent, the service was amazing, and their staff were very attentive to our group.

We had an unforgettable day at the Rock County 4-H Fair with our Catholic Charities Community Connections crew last week! 🎡 We had a blast petting the animals, enjoying fair food and roaming the grounds, soaking in every moment. One brave soul even took on the tilt-a-whirl! 🌀

July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to recognize and address the unique challenges faced by racial and ethnic minorities in accessing mental health care. Guided by the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, we affirm the inherent dignity of every human person and our commitment to solidarity with all our brothers and sisters.

Mental health disparities affect many in our community, often exacerbated by stigma, lack of access to care, and cultural barriers. As Catholics, we are called to stand with those who are suffering, ensuring they receive the support and care they deserve. Let us remember that every person is created in the image of God and deserves to live with dignity and peace.

We invite you to join us in prayer and action. The Catholic Health Association of the United States is hosting a Minority Mental Health Awareness Month Prayer Service, a moment to come together in faith and solidarity. Let us pray for healing, understanding, and justice for all who struggle with mental health challenges, especially within minority communities.

We had a local celebrity stop in to see us for the first time last week! Mary the Comfort Dog from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church & School in Janesville. Mary is a trained LCC K-9 Comfort Dog and has her own page Mary Comfort Dog

Her visit was a big hit and we are looking forward to monthly visits going forward.

🎉🌟 Creating Connections and Making Memories! 🌟🎉

We’re excited to share some special moments from our Community Connections program. This unique initiative provides adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities in Rock County, WI, the chance to engage in daily community activities and meaningful experiences.

Some of our amazing individuals had the opportunity to attend a couple of Sky Carp games. 🏟️⚾ From enjoying hot dogs 🌭 to making new friends 👫, it was a day filled with joy and camaraderie. And of course, we had a blast cheering on the Beloit Sky Carps! 📣🎉

Together, we’re not just building connections, we’re creating a community. 💖

Last year, we served 19,274 of our vulnerable neighbors. Your neighbors, right here in this community. We put food back on tables. Unlocked doors to new possibilities. And walked together on the road back. Catholic Charities Diocese of Madison is helping our struggling neighbors throughout South Central Wisconsin regain their footing and dignity, guiding them toward the life and future they deserve.

Our adventurous group from Community Connections had a fantastic day out in Madison! They immersed themselves in the diverse exhibits at the Chazen Museum, appreciating the beauty of art in its many forms. 🖼️

But the fun didn’t stop there! They also savored a delicious lunch at Culvers, adding a tasty touch to their day. 🍔

Walking in the Footsteps of the Apostles

As we celebrate the feast of the Apostle Barnabus, we are reminded of his tireless work in spreading the Gospel and serving those in need. The Apostles embodied the spiritual and corporal works of mercy taught by Jesus.

At Catholic Charities Diocese of Madison, we strive to follow their example each day. Just as the Apostles fed the hungry, sheltered the homeless, and cared for the sick, our programs provide food, housing assistance, counseling services, and so much more to our brothers and sisters in need.

💜 June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month 💜

At Catholic Charities Diocese of Madison, we are deeply committed to supporting those affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Our Adult Day Center and Community Connections programs provide care for those living with these conditions and traumatic brain injuries.

This month, we join the global community in acknowledging the more than 55 million people worldwide living with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia. We unite in understanding, empathy, and support for those affected and their families.

This month, our amazing Men's Group took on the exciting challenges of Mini Golf at King Pin Adventure Golf in Fort Atkinson! 🏌️‍♂️✨ The laughter was infectious, the camaraderie heartwarming, and the putting skills were on point! 🏆

We believe in creating enriching experiences for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities, and this outing was a hole-in-one for fun and friendship. 🎉💚
