Red Apple Barn is stocked full and ready to see you all for opening day of You Pick! Starting this Saturday, august 24th, you pick season begins. Shop the store, stroll the grounds, enjoy a ride out to the orchard and pick some fresh apples. Get your fall festivities started early because we know you’re patiently waiting for them to begin!

Pumpkin season is quickly approaching, crochet pumpkins are one of my fall favorites complete with cinnamon stick stems.

We will NOT be at the Jasper Farmers Market tomorrow, it is our regular day to be there but due to the questionable chance of rain and crochet products requiring a lot to dry out after getting damp we will have to skip this one. Keep en eye out for posts regarding next weekend! Chicken coasters for viewing!

Last weekend our new puppy made her appearance at the market. She was a conversation starter for sure!

Wednesday spotlight!

Did you know that the cast iron handle covers are made to be tapered and fitted to the cast iron skillet handle? The bottom is wider and fits the curved base while the top is more narrow and secures the cover snugly onto the handle.

These are 100% cotton! Why? Cotton is a softer, but strong material. This is 2 Strand crochet where I actually hold 2 different strands at one time, size down in hook and do a single crochet stitch to create these. The result is a strong, thick, heat protecting material.

Washable? Of course! These items are machine washable on cold water settings. Please do not dry them because cotton does shrink. You can also hand wash in dish liquid and lay flat to dry. Why are they washable? Because cooking can be messy and it’s important to keep your materials clean!

What size do they fit?
These fit your standard 8-12 inch cast iron skillets.

Do the fit all brands?
Yes! They do fit the more traditional old school skillet handles and also the lodge brand.

How do you put them on?
I recommend a shove going on! Why? Simply because the handle is tapered it takes a tad of a push to go past the larger bottom, you want it snug!

We are back from Vacation, dodged the rain off and on getting the garden planted, cleaned and opened the pool since the kiddos are now out for summer!

Whew!!

This Saturdays weather is showing strong possibilities for us being at the jasper farmers market and I’m so excited to roll out some new items I’ve been working on.

My family and I are off to Vacation tomorrow! Posts have been on the quiet side this week in preparations for leaving (mom life). Hoping the weather is vendor friendly this upcoming weekend so we can be at the Jasper Farmers Market!
