To all of you loyal “ReThunk Junk Paint Customers” our retail location has changed in the Jasper, Ga area….. Sadly the store where we sold the fabulous products at for the past 7 years Jasper Mountain Home Furnishings & Decor have closed their doors this past week and Retired 😭🎉……
So now we are located at “JUNKTIQUES” in Jasper just off of 515 and Hidden Creek Rd

We just placed a large “restocking” order for Paints, StainTop and all the goodies you need for your next project that should be here early next week, but there are lots of items on the shelf that we just stocked today.

Sometimes you love a color trend, then a few years later you decide you want something lighter and brighter….. this weeks repeat kitchen that went from “golden oak, to gray mist and finally linen”
This was 2 day update.

I’m going to call this a “Way Back Makeover” this was the first piece I “ReThunked” and Sold nearly 7 years ago, luckily one of my very good, long time friends bought it for her cool new condo renovation at an old mill loft in Athens,Ga.

“Granny Smith Apple” green or Gray Mist??
Per the builder this home plan was Awarded the “2007 Atlanta Showcase Home of the year”……. And surprisingly they used these greens and lemon yellows throughout the home…… some people may love it….. but the new homeowner was eager to change the colors to a more livable hue 😉 So “Gray Mist” was our go to ( which is very similar to revere pewter by BM)

Truly the house is “super cool” and has an amazing view with an awesome floor plan but the new owners have just started the process of making it their own by changing wall colors, light fixtures, adding new counters, and modernizing all the amazing woodwork throughout the home.

I quick little makeover in the Town Lake Area this week - the before was a light gray with purple undertones…… so updating changed the warmth of this room so much.

17 year old kitchen update, now bright and cheery instead of dark and Tuscan…… walls and backsplash are next, then new lighting and an updated island with more storage is in the works.

“More Cabin, less Shiplap”
It’s fun having creative days especially at a cabin on the river

This started as a shiplap accent wall but didn’t quite fit the Log Cabin Life…… this was 6 different paint colors including a glaze with a graining effect.

Did you know that we refinish/restain and seal wood cabinets too?? Normally we have to go slightly darker to avoid sanding down to the bare wood. This is a recent refinish on a cabin on the Cartacay River and the cabinets were worn and had a lot of missing finish from years of enjoyment. A few days later and they now match the live edge accent wood on the window and trim.
This was a product called “StainTop” with some added pigment for a slight enhancement and a clear water based poly sealer (aka tufftop)

How do you break up the continuous golden color of those little log cabins??
Paint your CABINETS!
Most mountain cabins have little tiny kitchens and the majority of these relaxing escapes have plywood cabinet doors or t&g doors that are inexpensive but functional and fit the space, so “painting” that product is not really a big deal in terms of all the husbands saying “ Don’t paint that precious wood” 😉 some things just need a little “make up” to brighten up a space

So it’s possible that the ”Barbie Pink” is not a trend after all 😉
but it sure looked “pink” while the paint was being applied…..
This amazing mountain cabin with a cool painted kitchen really makes the space more inviting and really helps to break up all of the wood tones. It’s like it should have been there all along.
This color is Barn Door with Dark glaze and Midnight on the trim and corner cabinets.

How about 4 years outdoors on the side of a building with the rising Sun beating down on you everyday…… and you still look as new as the day you were painted….. 😍
I went by The Beauty Bar to update some “Giant” wings I painted for the owner in April 2020 ( you know that really awful time when anything cool was shut down 😉) and the hashtag info I painted with a “outdoor oil based Sharpie” faded in about 2 years and needed updated and the rhinestones I glued to the wings turned yellow and needed removed……. But the paint for the wings, including the glitter I added to the paint while wet still looked like it was “2020”
No chipping, no fading, no fails…..
