On June 27, over 20 Soldiers from the War Eagles (66th MP CO) took part in an exhilarating whitewater rafting experience through the Warrior Adventure Quest (WAQ) in Cashmere, WA. During the After-Action Review (AAR), they reflected on how the challenges of the rapids paralleled life’s journey. Despite facing in unpredictable obstacles and hardships, their teamwork and resilience helped them reach their final destination. But the greatest takeaway is that it was an incredibly fun day!

On June 13, 2024, the Dragon Fighters hosted a wonderful evening of Dining-out at the Tacoma Convention Center, and it was a night to remember! With around 400 Soldiers, their significant others, special guests, and former Dragon Fighters in attendance, we celebrated this extraordinary occasion in style! This Dining-out was particularly special as it marked the last time all our companies (HHD, 51st/95th MP DET, 54th MP CO, 66th MP CO, 170th MP CO, and 571st MP CO) gathered together. Our very own CSM Nicholas Martinez delivered an inspiring speech on the importance of leaving a legacy, leaving everyone motivated and proud. A massive shoutout and heartfelt thanks to everyone who worked tirelessly to make this event a huge success!

The Dragon Fighters Battalion proudly participated in the Washington State Special Olympic Law Enforcement Torch Run at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) on 7JUN24. About a dozen Special Olympic athletes from JBLM, along with 600 Soldiers, Airmen, and their Families, joined forces for this inspiring event.

The Torch Run kicked off with a heartfelt ceremony at the iconic Iron Mike statue across from the Lewis Exchange. The 8-mile route concluded at Heritage Hill Park on McChord Field. The Dragon Fighters ran with pride and unity, embodying the spirit of support and camaraderie. The torch was passed to state law enforcement agencies who will carry to Pacific Lutheran University for the opening ceremony.

On 22MAY24, some of the Dragon Fighters were recognized at the 42nd Military Police Brigade's Best Squad Competition Award Ceremony. Soldiers from the 504th and 508th Military Police Battalions participated in a challenging three-day competition that included 14 rigorous events. The Dragon Fighters Team comprised SFC Jeremy Lucena, SGT Isaac Morales, SPC Andrew Romaniello, SPC Matthew Watkins (could not attend the ceremony), and PV2 Mariah Cook.

SFC Donald Whisler, a Dragon Fighter alumnus, received an Army Achievement Medal for his role as the lead planner for the competition. SPC Watkins was honored for being the fastest swimmer in the competition. PV2 Cook stood out by winning the marksmanship event AND the True Grit Award.

On May 21, the Dragon Crushers (571st MP CO) conducted a live fire shoot house training. This training boosted Soldier proficiency, confidence, and lethality with weapon systems for effective law enforcement operations.

The focus was on active shooter response, with Soldiers navigating the shoot house to identify and neutralize threats. Teams performed manual door breaches and cleared the rooms efficiently! Another victorious day here in the Dragon Fighters Battalion!

Today, the Battalion Master Combatives Instructor SFC Rice held the first Dragon Fighters Combatives Tournament! At the end, the NCOs of the 571ST MP CO “Dragon Crushers” won the day with SSG Gutierrez (Light Weight) and SSG Canton (Heavy Weight) crushing the competition. But, there can be only one champion and SSG Gutierrez was crowned defeating all his opponents, including the heavy weight champion! Once certified level 2, these NCOs will lead the effort to certify 100% of Dragon Fighters in FY24 in Combatives Level 1. Dragon Fighters continue to prove why the 504th Military Police Battalion is the MP battalion of choice in the Pacific and why our MP Soldiers are ready to deploy, protect, fight, win, and survive!
