The UECC grounds took on a fresh look over the summer. In June, we contracted a tree company to cut down and remove the eight willow trees that lined the property on Roseland Avenue (between Gibson and Montgomery Avenues). In addition to the neighbors' concerns about the trees' size and constant debris they produced, we felt that given their age and the fact that their roots were damaging the UECC water pipes there were good enough reasons to take them out. Other trees on the property will also receive some attention, such as trimming back branches and shaping. We will let the land rest a bit before planting anything along the fence line on Roseland Avenue.

The mission of the ULCC is to fully immerse children in Ukrainian culture, heritage, tradition and language with multi-cultural awareness and respect for diversity. The ULCC’s primary purpose is to provide a childcare environment that promotes early learning within an affordable and sustainable learning center that encourages respect for cultural diversity through a curriculum that reflects Ukrainian culture and values and promotes the Ukrainian language.

Today is International Children’s Day!

We honor the amazing children's groups housed at the UECC, including the Ukrainian Heritage School, Ukrainian Learning Center for Children (Svitlychka), Plast Philadelphia, Ukrainian American Youth Association Philadelphia (CYM), Voloshky School of Dance, Soloveyky Children's Choir, Dzvonyky Theatre Group, the Civics Club, and more. These incredible organizations are dedicated to nurturing and supporting our youth, providing them with education, cultural enrichment, and community.

Together, let's celebrate our future leaders and recognize the power of children helping children, especially those affected by the war in Ukraine. Together, we can foster a world of peace and hope for all children.
