***MCDC ENDORSEMENT ALERT***

I have the distinct honor of representing Cheltenham, Jenkintown, and Springfield in the State House. I believe that our elected officials must be unwavering in their pursuit of fairness and equity, rising above partisan talking points to see the potential of every community. In Harrisburg, I have been working hard to wipe away institutional racism and am leading legislative efforts to undo the lasting effects of red-lining, civil asset forfeiture, and the barriers to inter-generational wealth within poor and minority communities.

I believe in the power of the Register of WIlls office to effectuate change. I endorsed Hilary Fuelleborn to replace D. Bruce Hanes for the County Register of Wills. I endorsed her in December and still believe that she would be an amazing RoW. Like many of you, I was surprised when none of the anticipated candidates for the RoW were recommended for endorsement. I have many questions about the process that got us here and needed to vet the new endorsed candidate, Tina Lawson. I did not know her, but have, of course, come to find her qualified for the role as well.

What I do know is that Montgomery County is blessed with highly qualified professionals who are each champions for Democratic values. Hundreds of them are active in the party, but thousands of them instead chose to be active in their communities, parent, professional, social and religious organizations. Normal vetting of candidates is fair, but tone and context is critical, bias is dangerous, and trauma is real. The race for the Register of WIlls is becoming far more divisive than the candidates and the community deserves and I am hoping for further leadership to mend fences and restore trust in the process and in our fellow Democratic foot soldiers. For this reason, I am no longer endorsing either candidate for this race during the upcoming MCDC Convention.

We have surpassed 10,000 voters signing up to vote by mail-in in the 154th District. Over 8,400 Democrats and another 800 Independents. Over 2,600 ballots have already been marked and returned back to Voter Services!

For every one of you that requested a mail-in ballot, there are now just two Democrat voters that we need to persuade to vote during this critical"Get Out The Vote" period. These voters we're working to get to the polls have not voted since 2020 and I can't bank on them coming out to vote in November without encouragement.

I have talked to you before about needing to win 102 votes in the PA State House. This week was a perfect example of why we need those votes.

We passed a budget yesterday. In it were significant investments in education, nursing and home care workers, housing programs, and environmental conservation. Democrats celebrated. Republicans felt left out. So they passed a bill intending to change the constitution to manipulate elections, outlaw abortion, and prevent Governors from governing...

Governor Wolf and our next Gov. Shapiro can't intervene in the constitutional amendment process. Only the House and Senate have that authority.

Its the Summer of 102 We need to send 102 Democrats to the PA House so we can stop playing defense and start playing offense! Be a part of the change!
