Happy yoga month from the (arguably) oldest form of yoga, the OG of the 8 Limbs ~ Ashtanga, in Sanskrit- ashta: eight; anga: limb. Derived from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the eight limbed path includes: yama- restraints; niyama- observances; pranayama- breath control; asana- postures; pratyahara- sense withdrawal; dharana- focused concentration; dhyanna- meditative absorption; samahdi- bliss of enlightenment. Pre-pandemic, I offered group classes in Ashtanga Yoga and Yin Yoga at The Barrow Mansion, the historic landmark community center in downtown Jersey City.
