African American Boy in Georgia
Very sad story here. Young mother (aged 2) is struggling as a single parent to this very adorable little boy who is 2 years old and who will be 3 at the end of May, as her son's father was killed in a car accident a year ago. Her son was speaking a few words prior to the loss of his father, but since the father's passing, he has become nonverbal. Mother realizes that there is something "off" and took him in for extensive medical testing. The results of the testing will not be in for approximately 6 weeks, but the label that the mother used was level 2 autism. She states that he is very sweet, and nonviolent but that he does not interact or make eye contact. I did some online research and found a few chat boards of families that have had young children that have autism that spoke at a young age and then stopped speaking, and in some cases, they did become verbal again, but I encourage you to do your own research before considering this case. Obviously, every situation and child is different, and there has not been an official diagnosis, but according to his mother, she believes that he is autistic, and any family applying should be open to this. The agency involved in this case, Full Circle Adoptions, has spoken with the mother's grandmother about the placement, and she appears to be supportive of the decision. Her grandmother is the closest relative to her. The adoption professionals involved in this case are discounting their fees in order to make this adoption more affordable, and we are estimating a cost of under $20,000. For those that qualify for tax credits of almost $16,000 the cost of the adoption should be minimal. I am posting a photo of a child that is younger than this child but reminds me of him. Mother would like an open adoption and possible zoom calls etc. She loves him very much, but she feels that she needs to grieve the loss of his father and she does not feel like she can meet his needs. Interested parties please forward your profile with all identifying and contact information omitted, proof of funds and a copy of your home study to Molly at Full Circle Adoptions [email protected]. Thank you for your interest.
