Pride month is in June to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Riots, which was a multi day riot and protest sparked by police raids in New York City's Stonewall Inn, a popular bar and safe space for LGBTQ+ patrons. This event was a catalyst for change after a long history of mistreatment and oppression experienced by the LGBTQ+ community. Today, pride celebrates visibility, progress, history, and organizes to help advance further progress on equality. It highlights community and connection, strength and love for LGBTQ+ of all ages.
Pride matters because people still experience violence and discrimination because of their sexual orientation and gender identity. Pride matters because as statistically, LGBTQ+ youth are more likely to experience mental illness, violence, homelessness, and more, due to family and other community members not being supportive or accepting. Pride matters for empower LGBTQ+ of all ages.

Cassidy graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges with her Bachelors of Science in Psychological Science with minors in Biology and Child Advocacy 🧬🧠. She is looking forward to continuing to build skills through teaching and interacting with children and the community that will help continue to build upon her education. Cassidy has a passion for educating children and the community about healthy relationships, making smart choices, and mental health awareness.
Outside of work, Cassidy loves spending time with family and friends, reading, going to concerts, and taking her dog for walks📚🎵 .
