Pride month is in June to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Riots, which was a multi day riot and protest sparked by police raids in New York City's Stonewall Inn, a popular bar and safe space for LGBTQ+ patrons. This event was a catalyst for change after a long history of mistreatment and oppression experienced by the LGBTQ+ community. Today, pride celebrates visibility, progress, history, and organizes to help advance further progress on equality. It highlights community and connection, strength and love for LGBTQ+ of all ages.

Pride matters because people still experience violence and discrimination because of their sexual orientation and gender identity. Pride matters for empower LGBTQ+ of all ages.
