CARS, CRAFTS, FOOD TRUCKS AND MUSIC:
HERE'S WHAT TO EXPECT ON JUNE 1
JONESBOROUGH – Friends of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office plans on filling the front parking lot with a little something for everyone June 1 in hopes of raising money for Project Lifesaver.
The free community event is from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., June 1. A limited number of spots for those wanting to enter the car show are still available. The cost is $25 if pre-registered by Friday. Those showing up the day of the show will pay $30 to enter. Both dash plaques and trophies will be awarded in the afternoon.
Project Lifesaver places personalized GPS locators on persons who are known to wander off. The transmitters will assist caregivers and WCSO in locating those individuals, with the average rescue time being under 30 minutes. Teaming this technology with WCSO’s tracking dogs, drones and Deputies, we can keep some of the most vulnerable members of our community safer.
“Last year’s car show was a huge success,” said Captain Shawn Judy, who organized the event with Major Randall Wines. “Our goal is to raise money to support our own community outreach programs, specifically Project Lifesaver.”
Attendees can check out the show cars, grab a bite to eat at the food trucks, find some neat items from craft vendors and enjoy the music of Hollow Ground.
Food Trucks slated to set up for the event include: El Lagunero, The Gravy Train, The Lazzy Chicken, Shane’s Place, Tri-Cities Roadhouse and Basil Wood Fired Pizza.
In addition, our Community Services Division will hand out tarps to the first 150 people as part of its Secure Your Load promotion. The State of Tennessee requires trash or brush to be covered and secure, so we have tarps available to make this easier for you. National Secure Your Load Day is June 6 this year.
For more information regarding entering the car show, please contact Capt. Shawn Judy (423-791-5174).
