The Iowa Brothers in Blue is the largest inside the prison christian retreat organization in the state.

We bring a 4 day Cursillo style weekend to the prisons in Iowa and Nebraska

Brothers and sisters in Christ. We have a call with the DOC this afternoon. Please pray for a miracle to allow us back inside to preach and spread the gospel message.

Group. I ask for prayers for the BIB and entry into the prison. I just spoke to Laura in the governor’s office and she is having a meeting the DOC tomorrow. Please pray for a positive outcome.

My mistake on the orginal post, the BBQ is the 27th and not the 17th. Sorry for the confusion. I'm going to assume all that have replied with a yes can still make it unless you tell us otherwise.

We would like to invite you all to a BBQ at 911 Southridge Drive in Boone on August 27th at 4 pm. If you do wish to attend, please RSVP to me at this post and we will look forward to seeing you. We pray that we will get back in the prison soon and we wanted to just reconnect with you.

Hello everyone. I wanted to reach out to the BIB community and let you know that the prison in Rockwell City (NCCF) is allowing volunteers to attend worship services on Thursday evenings. They are limiting the number at 5 however this is a start. If you are interested in attending you will need to send an email to Kelli Glasgo, the CoDR pastor at [email protected] and start the application process. I do hope we have some volunteers that would be available. I attended last week and it felt so good to worship with the men inside again.

I am saddened to inform you of the passing of Pastor Carroll Lang. Pastor Lang was instrumental in the founding of the Brothers in Blue movement and it was his passion that led so many of us to prison ministry. He will be missed and remembered fondly as the man that started it all for many of us as we found the wealth of Christ's love inside the razor wire. The service and arrangements are still pending and planned for a later date. We will inform you of these arrangements as we are made aware.
May God's peace surround his family as they mourn the loss of this great man of Christ.

Elmer Vernon Lubinus - View Obituary & Service Information 06/25/2022

It is with a sadness that I announce that dad passed last Thursday evening. He had been battling cancer. We are glad that he is no longer suffering and is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have attached a copy of his obituary with more details. We request prayers for mom, Norma Lubinus. Mom was a great caregiver to dad until the very end.

This past weekend, I had the privilege of attending a Brothers in Blue weekend in Springfield, SD. It was an amazing experience witnessing the Lord's work in a prison after an absence of almost 2 years. I want to thank the South Dakota team for their hospitality in allowing us to join them.

I have added a few comments from the guys below that they offered to the group at the end of the weekend.

"I started this weekend in a very dark place. I have numerous issues outside of my control with my family. After this weekend, I couldn't have imagined a better place for me to be!"

"I was backsliding and this weekend was exactly what I needed in my spiritual journey."

"I've been really focusing on forgiveness in my quiet times with the Lord. This weekend really added focus to that effort, and I have finally forgiven my father."

"We are all God's masterpiece.""

An example of the poster art work from the guys at the NCCF Brothers in Blue event last weekend. Its amazing how a little craft time enhances the learning!

Just an update on the current status of the Iowa Brothers in Blue ministry. We have not heard from the Iowa department of corrections as to the date of opening to volunteers to reenter the prisons. We ask that you continue to pray for that time and pray for the men inside.

We have heard from our brothers in South Dakota that they are conducting a weekend in September and another in October. Our prayer is that these weekends are well received.

The Nebraska prisons are sending out volunteer paperwork for reentry, so we believe they could be getting close to reopening. Again your prayers are appreciated.

Thank you for following us and we do greatly appreciate your prayers.

Great news from our friends that are involved in the BIB in South Dakota. (Message below) We eagerly await the news that the Iowa prisons are opening. Keep all in your prayers and we too will let you know of possible dates for upcoming weekends.

Just to let everyone know, the SD prisons are opening up on May 24! As soon as the BIB dates are confirmed with the prison, we will be posting the dates on this site and start lining up our teams! Praise God for allowing us to come back with this beautiful ministry!!

This past weekend one year ago, was our only Iowa Brothers in Blue event in 2020, at the North Central Correctional Facility. It has been a very strange year and I have greatly missed this ministry opportunity. I also miss all of the interaction of the volunteers and the inside men that assist us at each of these weekends.

I am hopeful that we will return soon and be able to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to the men inside our state prisons. Please continue to pray that we can go into the prisons in 2021. I also want to thank all of you for your prayer and financial support for this ministry.

Brothers in Blue

The Brothers in Blue ministry started in the 1980’s in Mt. Pleasant and has expanded to 6 prisons in the state of Iowa and one in Nebraska. We offer a “Walk to Emmus” or “Via de Cristo” style weekend, inside the prison. This short course in Christian living weekend has attended by thousands of inmates. I am so pleased to offer these weekends to the inmates and the prison congregations they attend. I cannot thank God enough for this opportunity and the hundreds of volunteers that assist each year to make this happen!
