Let me introduce myself, I’m Broooookkkeee!

My career started about the age 10 when I cut Barbie’s hair then proceeded to doing friends hair and painting their nails. Fast forward to 2015 when I went to cosmetology school and got my license and have been behind the chair for 7 years now. I specialize in hair cutting and color but am trained to do it all, I even do dip nails!

I grew up in small town Marionville and still reside there, I have worked in aurora and republic. Days out of the salon I enjoy family/friend time, listening to Reba & shopping.

I can always be found making someone laugh and playing in their hair. I consider myself part therapist some days. I’m always snacking if you can’t find me on the salon floor.

Our studio has undergone so many changes recently (and so many more planned!) I’m super stoked for the future & getting to inspire more beautiful people.

Unlocking confidence in yourself through my lens is so precious to me. I can’t even begin to tell you how many hugs and tears I’ve gotten.

It’s my favorite. I love when you see your images for the first time. I LOVE when you gush over yourself. And most importantly, I love when you love yourself.

Five things you can do today for a better body image tomorrow.

1.) clear out your social media.

WHY are you following accounts that make you feel bad about yourself? Seriously? That’s the most self destructive thing you could do. News flash: the material you consume shapes your mind. So if it’s causing harm, ditch it.

2.) Write your affirmations on your mirror.

Learning to appreciate, love, respect, or be totally neutral with your body STARTS with the words you speak about yourself. Ask yourself, would you ever speak to your best friend like this? If the answer is no (which I KNOW y’all aren’t being mean to your besties.) then it’s time to switch up your language.

Write five affirmations on your mirror today. Things like:

-I am beautiful
-I am more than a body
-My weight will fluctuate, my value will not
-I am more than a body to be looked at
-I’m allowed to love myself and be a work in progress

3.) Ditch those negative ass friends (& family)

Everyone in my life knows that I’m more than willing to call you out on negative body language. I can’t tell you how liberating it was to block & cut off people who were contributing to my negative thoughts. I 100% wouldn’t be in the position I’m in today if I had kept them around.

It’s your turn babes, if they don’t make you feel great 👏🏻get 👏🏻rid 👏🏻 of 👏🏻 them.

4.) buy clothes that fit

ITS OKAY TO SIZE UP. Why on earth are we scared of certain sizes? (Y’all I used to be so bad at this one but I’ve changed my ways)

Your body is going to fluctuate. It’s okay to HONOR those changes by buying clothes that fit.

5.) Stop the comparison game.

This might be the absolute HARDEST one on the entire list. Everybody is fighting battles that you can’t see. I’ve had size 0 and size 20 people in front of my camera with body image issues. Confidence doesn’t come with a size. Confidence comes from your mind. The first step is to stop comparing yourself! Run your own race babes.

OKAY yes. You’re totally right. I think this is a fantastic time to talk about the horrors of being a perfectionist. So if that’s something you identify with, hang around a second. I have some encouraging words for you.

It’s okay to not have it perfect before you do it.

Don’t scroll, I have more.

My mentor had to tell me that if I wait for things to be perfect, I’ll never reach my goals.

If I wait for the perfect moment, I’ll be waiting forever.

And wait for it.

If you wait for your perfect body before loving yourself, you’ll be waiting your whole life.

I’ve been 130 pounds and I’ve been 200 pounds. I’m both bodies I found a plethora of things I didn’t like about myself.

News flash, It’s. Not. Your. Body. Now, as a perfectionist it is SO easy to find flaws. It’s so easy to focus on those flaws and trick yourself into believing that everyone can see them.

Truth be told literally nobody cares. Everyone is too busy focusing on themselves to notice you.

So post the photos, go to the gym, make the tiktok, wear the crop top.

Do whatever the eff you want to do BEFORE it’s the perfect time.

If you wait you’ll be waiting forever.
