Congratulations to team Greece on winning the gold medal at the Waldo’s Summer Bar Olympics! They showed impressive speed, agility, and beer consumption that earned them their title. Honorable mention too to all competitors, a truly great display of athleticism!

Waldo’s Summer Beer Olympics are being held this Saturday! Don’t forget to come in and get your team signed up with a bartender! Official start time is 12:30pm but strongly encouraged to show up before!

A CAJUN, A CREOLE AND A LATVIAN
SIT DOWN AT A BAR TOGETHER…
(-a slightly different kind of recipe-)

The Cajun spots GUMBO on the chalkboard menu and decides to order bowls for the group.

The Latvian being, well…Latvian, immediately orders a round of pepper vodka shots with pickle slices to warm up the taste buds a bit.

Three steaming bowls soon arrive on the bar.

Having just finished his morning rounds at the Farmer’s Market, the Creole pulls a couple of perfectly ripe tomatoes from his satchel, quickly coarse-chops those and adds to each bowl.
“Now it is Creole Gumbo” he proudly proclaims.

The Latvian nods his approval and takes a big taste of this new concoction. He ponders a moment and dryly states “Needs mushrooms…And fresh dill, of course”.

The Latvian just back from the woods, pulls a handful of mushrooms from his pocket and distributes those among the three bowls, along with copious amounts of dill
(Latvians always have fresh dill with them; one never knows…)

After tasting a spoonful, he celebrates his contribution by downing his shot and popping the crunchy pickle slice into his mouth. Almost instantaneously, the Latvian pivots on his barstool, snags his Cajun buddy’s untouched pepper shot, and, along with a piece of pickle slice, pours some into each bowl.
“PERFECTION!”

Having witnessed this theatre, the bartender pulls out one of his garnish trays and laughingly adds
“While you’re at it, you might as well take some of these lemons, caper berries and olives and throw those in!”…..

The 2024 Waldo’s Winter Olympics officially comes to an end. In a feat of great athletic agility, speed, strength, precision, and drinking ability, we congratulate all participating athletes.
