Think coffee is only for giving you an energy boost?

Some doctors are starting to recommend adding coffee into your skincare routine.

According to USAToday.com, "Dr. Suzanne Friedler, a board-certified dermatologist with Advanced Dermatology PC in New York City, says there are two noticeable effects" of coffee in skincare: “It’ll help to seal up your pores a little bit [and] it may help to decrease a little bit of redness.”

The article also states,"While the caffeine and antioxidants work their magic, the physical coffee grounds provide a gentle physical exfoliant for your skin. When combined with water, oil, soap, or lotion, the grounds can physically buff away any dead skin cells, which causes skin cells to turn over faster, resulting in a brighter, more even skin tone."

Arsai is officially on the shelves at Horrocks Farm Market Battle Creek Michigan! We are incredibly honored to be included in such a beloved store within the local market community!

For those not familiar with Horrocks, I found an article on battlecreekvisitors.org that sums up the essence of Horrocks very well.

Good morning all! I just got a comment questioning the use of lye (also known as Sodium Hydroxide) in handmade soaps and if it’s necessary/safe. I am assuming others may be questioning it also so I thought I would share an article that helped me understand the benefit/need for lye in our soaps.

1. Lye is considered vegan-friendly as it does not involve animal-derived ingredients.

2. Lye isn’t something you should worry about in your soap because the lye is no longer active in the soap after the soap has cured.

3. Lye comes from natural, earth sources like clay and limestone.
