🌺ANNOUNCING🌺 Hawaiian Quilting Beginner I Workshop Series
•Kumu Rhealene NeSmith Palicte, master quilter from Kekaha, Kaua’i, will be passing on her knowledge and skills to a small group of dedicated wahine who want to keep this art form alive for future generations. 
•You will select one class day for a total of six classes in the series (schedule is below).
•Each class will have only six haumana so each can receive Aunty Rae’s personal attention and guidance. 
•Class will be held once a week and will cover the basics for those with no sewing or quilting experience. 
•We will be making a 18x18” pillow case with a simple applique design. 
•All materials will be provided, except for the pillow.

We are very blessed to have Aunty Rae who is willing to teach us her ‘ike passed on from her Grandmother Tutu Annie Kauhane (my great-grandmother). If you wish to bring a small makana to give to Aunty, that would be nice. No need be fancy or expensive, just something heartfelt. She is flying from Kauai every weekend to be with us, so any miles donations would be welcome as well!

Hawaiian Quilting Workshop Series - would you join?

I am considering hosting my Aunty Rhealene of Kekaha, Kaua’i, for a beginner quilting class. She learned from my Great Grandmother, Tutu Annie Kauhane and wishes to pass on her skills to a select group of wahine who will keep the craft alive.

Classes will be very small with six haumana receiving her personal guidance throughout. Hosted in the Hale Pua shop located in Kāne’ohe.

Drop 🩷 in the comments if you are seriously interested. If there is enough interest, she would like to continue on with intermediate and advanced classes as skills progress.

Want to know my favorite part about being in my shop? It’s watching all of your beautiful faces light up when you try on a new pāpale and see your reflection in the mirror. Sometimes you’re shy and not used to admiring the beautiful wahine you see smiling at you.

The older I get the more I appreciate the girl I see and how much she’s grown. The smile lines, creases and sun spots are all evidence of a life full of days spent laughing in the sun.

I woke up early this morning to watch the sunrise feeling fresh and excited to start a new week. I removed two posts that I had made expressing how I felt about a situation. I hadn’t gotten a chance to reply to all of your beautiful comments yet, but I felt that I needed to take Aunty Linda’s advice and move on. If I didn’t get to reply please know that I read and appreciated every word.

I have since heard that a girl is threatening a defamation lawsuit. Not sure if that is directed at me because I never once named anyone and did not let anyone else do so.

I am choosing to rise with aloha. I’ll be in my shop today bringing more of my ideas to life.

I will say this again for everyone to hear. I still have nothing but respect, admiration and aloha for ALL of my fellow wahine creators and business girls.

Let’s elevate and uplift each other. Let’s find ways to respect and honor ideas. I can’t wait to start sharing with the MANY of you who have expressed interest in my process of transforming an idea into a product that you can share with the whole world. I want to go to all of your shops to buy your cool mea someday.
