Today, me and about 50 other people from around the world became sworn citizens of the United States of America 🇺🇸.
Alexandra was allowed into the ceremony with me (I could only have one guest) and I had her take my pic in front of all the props, forever trying to get a good one🤷‍♀️
I definitely got a little misty eyed as the host talked about the diversity of this nation and how that’s what makes it so great 🥲. I registered to vote and filled out my application for an American passport!!
I’ve lived here for 35 years, both my girls were born here, so I’m not sure what took me so long to commit. But I couldn’t be more proud that today was the day!❤️

My Alexandra celebrated her 31st birthday on the 23rd. I’m not sure how things can seem like they happen overnight AND take several lifetimes, but that’s how it feels for me as I watch my daughter evolve.
Alexandra was the best little baby, so sweet and content, and as a young girl she was always caring and thoughtful toward others. Growing up in a single-parent home she knew things were not easy sometimes. There were many times when I found out after the fact that she didn’t even ask for, or ask to do certain things so as to ease the burden on me😭
As an adult, Alexandra has worked hard and overcome many obstacles. Nothing can stand in her way, fear is not a deterrent to her accomplishing her goals. She has a successful career and a thriving family. She’s the best mom I have ever met, advocating for her children and doing everything in her power to help them become their best selves.❤️
Alexandra, I’m looking forward to seeing where life takes you in the years to come. Being your mom has been the best part of my life and I’m so thankful I still get to be a part of your journey ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Mackenzie, celebrating your birthday with you on Monday was the highlight of my week! I’m beyond proud of who you are and what you are becoming. You’re so focused and ambitious, yet down to earth and faithful to your family. I love spending time with you because your energy is so positive, you are always an encouragement, and no matter how bad they are, you never fail to laugh at my jokes 😂. You’re the best auntie, Skylar and A’Miracle adore you. I love to see how close you are with your sister and how the two of you nurture your relationship by spending time together, even taking weekend girl-trips! You’ve worked so hard to become a nurse anesthetist and are now giving back to the world by taking part in medical mission trips, using your talents to make the lives of others better. I’m not sure what I did to deserve a wonderful daughter like you but I thank God every day that my life has been so blessed.❤️

Happy 3rd Birthday Skylar! You are such a sweet, gentle-spirited little girl who brings so much love and light to our world! In your three short years you’ve been through so much, but you are a fighter, strong and brave. You have been such a bright ray of sunshine in our lives and your giggles just make everyone happy! You are so full of energy, yet calm and cuddly. I can’t wait to celebrate your birthday with you!

I buy the Day Designer planner every year and on the first page they have a box that says “My word for the year is:” and then you fill in the blank. For years I have either left the box empty or put in a word just to fill up the space.
Several weeks ago as I was filling out my new planner the word ‘Consistency’ came to me. I was actually excited because this felt like a revelation. Consistency fits me where I am. I can apply it to all aspects of my life.
When you think about it, there are no miracles. You can’t expect a facial to get you to your skin care goals if you aren’t CONSISTENTLY using the proper products morning and night. Four days of eating well won’t get you to your goal weight. Two weeks at the gym won’t get you toned. Add consistency to any of these goals and just see where it takes you.

Spent the afternoon sipping on some North Carolina wines at Childress Vineyards. Seriously delightful and so close by, just a quick 40 minutes up the road. Definitely going make that drive again.
Also, I have been finding some cute dresses at Target! This one is so comfy and cool and I love the length, so I also bought it in white. The hat was an impulse purchase from the gift shop at the winery!
