I have worked in the industry since 2006 and absolutely love it!
the variety of the industry is my favorite part: hair, nails and facial waxing services make for an interesting day everyday.
Hairapy Studio is officially OPEN!!
It's happening ππ!!
I have exciting news to share...
I'm opening a private studio suite in Lenexa π₯³! Due to delayed construction materials I have a few more weeks before I move into my studio suite. I can't wait to share my beautiful new space with you!!
During the interim I will be working at The Warehouz Salon in Shawnee. Due to unforseen circumstances this move happened quicker than I was anticipating but I'm so thankful they have welcomed me and all my clients with open arms π₯° . This salon is absolutely beautiful inside with amazing boutique items to shop for, and is becoming a wonderful pit stop as my career infolds! Life is funny and always full of twists and turns. The Warehouz Salon is located in Shawnee on Shawnee Mission Pkwy and K7 right next door to Nick & Jake's.
Thank you so much for your continued support over the years, I truly appreciate you!! This new space was designed with you in mind and I think you are going to love it!

What's the difference between ceramic and titanium hot tools? This question gets asked a lot and the answer is simple...both are great and will get the job done. However you want to pay attention to the type of plates your using, make sure heat protection is applied and adjust your heat according to hair type and texture.
*Ceramic plates are great for thin, fine or naturally straight hair. This type of hot tool heats the hair from the inside out, which is ideal for delicate hair.
*Titanium plates are best for thick, coarse or naturally curly hair. This type of hot tool heats the hair on the surface and is preferred for more resistant hair. Delivering a silky shiny finish with less passes of heat to achieve the desired look.
Always remember to use a heat protectant when using any type of hot tool π
This concludes our session for today.

Let's talk heat protection...who really needs it? Well if you are using ANY type of heat on your hair...heat protection is a MUST! There are many forms of heat protectants; oil, serum, cream, or spray. "So which one should I use?!" I'm glad you asked...each type offers the benefit of heat protection along with a few other perks.
Oil- Applying oil to the hair while still wet will protect against heat along with reducing frizz and increase shine. Great for all hair types in small doses. Remember a little bit goes a long way, focusing on the mid-shaft to ends...stay away from the scalp!
Serum- Using a serum can help control excess volume while protecting the hair from damage due to heat or chemical services. Good for natural curly hair and/or coarse texture, due to the heavy nature this is a great product for frizz and/or volume control.
Cream- Can be used as a leave-in conditioner providing heat protection as an added benefit. Great for all types of hair, can be used for increase volume, styling control and shine.
Spray- A spray protectant can come in a spritz, mist or aerosol. This is by far my favorite type of heat protectant. I love the versatility... they come in lightweight for soft and bouncy and other various levels of hold for more control. Great for every type of hair and depending on the desired style the product recommendation might change.
So if you are using any kind of heat on your hair whether it is wet or dry, a heat protection is a must-have in your toolbox π₯°!
This concludes our session for today.

We may be a little deaf after our night out with the kids (they wore hearing protection) at Monster Jam π» but it sure was fun!! The size of those trucks made T-Mobile center look so small!! It's crazy how they can do all the tricks and flips π² with those HUGE trucks! The motorcycles were also really fun to watch...Harlow says she wants a motorcycle now π₯΄!
Life is too short to have "normal" boring hair ππ!
Welcome to my first Hairapy Session! We are going to first start with the foundation of our hair and scalp and how to properly care for/maintain both. If you go multiple days without washing your hair, listen up this session is for you! And if you are washing your hair everyday... STOPπ and here's why.
Washing your hair everyday not only is it exhausting π₯±but could be drying your hair out and stripping the natural oils that help keep your hair and scalp healthy. Washing your hair 2x when you do wash is what I always recommend, And if you are my once a week washers like myself you probably need 3 (sometimes 4 if you got real crazy) washes to really get it clean. And if you are going 8-12 days without washing...please share your secrets, you know once a week is PAINFUL for your girl π€£π₯΄!!
In all seriousness here's the facts...
Our bodies produce a natural oil Sebum. This oil is produced by our sebaceous glands to help protect our hair and promote a healthy hydrated scalp. Hormonal changes (puberty, pregnancy and menopause) can cause an over/underproduction of sebum sometimes resulting in an oily scalp or dry/flaky scalp. So give your greasy teenager a break...they are probably washing their hair everyday but their hormones are all outta wack which is making them look like a grease ball. This is where using a Clarifying Shampoo comes into play. A Clarifying Shampoo gently removes excess oil along with product buildup and pollution residue. Sometimes that's not enough and we have to play a little hard ball and use more intense treatments to remove the excess buildup off the hair and scalp but I digress....that's a topic for another session.
This concludes our session for today.

*P.S. Go get yourself some Redken Deep Clean dry shampoo and hit that snooze button girl you deserve those extra beauty sleep minutes.. your arm(s) and hair will thank you π!!

That seamless blend is where it's at π«Ά and IBE is the method I use to achieve that result! IBE stands for Invisible Beaded Extensions and is the company I have trusted to educate and elevate my skill. I love giving my guests the hair they have always dreamed of and stepping out of my normal realm of color/cut, it is a fun change up and kind of therapeutic to sew at workπ!
We sometimes get out of the salon and have a little fun together! We toured the Chiefs stadium β€ππ (highly recommend), ate a Vietnamese sandwich (yum π) for the first time and ended the evening with an ice cream cone from Andy's Frozen Custard...soooo good and worth the wait in line!
What's something fun you have done in KC or somewhere yummy you have tried? I'm always looking for fun things to do or good places to eat!
Are you wanting to enhance your hair with length or just add some volume? Hair extensions are customized to each and every guest that sits in my chair, they are not just for length they can also be installed to help with density and volume! You heard me right, if you love your length but wish it was a little fuller...I've got your solution! Hand-tied extensions are super comfortable and gentle on the hair and scalp. I have absolutely loved the IBE method of install that I invested in and would love to help you achieve your hair goals.
Schedule a extension consultation and let's chat about how we can achieve the look you have always wanted!

Happy New Year πΎ!! It's that time of year that we all set our goals high and are excited for what the new year has in store! What are you most excited about this year and/or what goal(s) have you set for yourself? I'll go first...
*Consistency...I've struggled with being consistent in the past at work and in my personal life. So this year my main focus is staying consistent even when life throws me curveballs (one thing that throws me off track π).
*Procrastination...I've always been a terrible procrastinator...I always said I function better under pressure but as I get more "seasoned" in life I have realized I do not enjoy the stress that brings to my life. I actually feel better when I make a list (thanks mom π), plan ahead and execute early rather than right on time.
Both of these goals I believe will give me more joy and less stress. At the end of the day life is too short to be stressed out and not loving your life!
Wishing each and everyone of you a happy and healthy year. Cheers to 2023 π₯!!

Not only is this girl the sweetest but she obviously has gor-geous hair π! MK has trusted me to take care of her hair for over 10 years...I've known her and her family for a very long time and truly enjoy taking care of all them in my chair. This girl doesn't need much from me to enhance her hair...however the deep conditioner we did most certainly gave her hair a much needed moisture hug after this hot summer! You can add a deep conditioning treatment to any service to replenish moisture and shine!
