Dr. Anderson (with the help of Dr. Ray) made history at Eagle last week by successfully placing a feeding tube in Javier, the FIFTY-FIVE year old tortoise. Pretty cool!!
He came in for his recheck this morning and is still on the mend, but feeling a lot better! 🐢

Did you know we start seeing heatstrokes this time of the year? Check out some of our tips below about the symptoms of heatstroke and prevention tips:

-Never leave your pet unattended in a car
-When hot/humid, keep your pet’s time outdoors limited ​
-Keep your pet hydrated​
-Ensure your pet has ventilation and a cool environment​
-Dogs with short noses are at higher risk due to their condensed facial anatomy and restricted ability to cool themselves​
-If any signs of heat stroke appear, contact our team immediately. ​

Congratulations to our technicians, Letty and Rachel, who graduated from the Maple Woods Veterinary Technology program!! This past weekend they took their veterinary technician oath, pledging themselves to veterinary medicine. We are so proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing them grow as RVTs!!

If it seems like your pet has been in the back of the hospital for a long time during their visit, don’t worry! Treatment area can be a little scary. A good portion of the time we spend in the back is working to gain their trust and bonding. One of our technicians caught this photo of Ali comforting a nervous patient yesterday. No matter how slowly it may take, we prioritize spending this time so that our patients have better experiences! 🐾

We were so excited to meet the Slatier family’s new puppy, Minnie! (She has three black spots on her back that resemble the head & ears of Minnie Mouse! ❤️🖤)

The Roth family brought their new Rottweiler puppy, Charlie, in for his first wellness visit. He was a brave boy and loved getting to meet all of the kind nurses in the back!

April is Heartworm Prevention Month!

Heartworm disease is a serious & potentially fatal disease in pets all over the United States. Heartworms are transmitted by mosquitos & can cause congestive heart failure & death if left untreated.

It takes 6-7 months for microfilaria (baby heartworms) to develop into adults within a pet’s blood stream.

Heartworms can be risky to treat once they’ve reached the adult stage. Luckily they can be easily prevented with either yearly injection or monthly oral preventions!

Sophie P***k came in today to see Dr. Wingerd for her annual wellness visit. She was a showstopper with her cute party hat! It’s her birthday! She turns 11 years old today, but she doesn’t look a day over one 😉

Meet Mr. Snuggles, a leopard gecko belonging to the Bomgardener family.
Some of his skin got stuck on his toe during his shed and Dr. Anderson was able to fix him up quickly in hospital. We love a simple visit!
