Bryden Pied-a-terre was commissioned by to build a railing that exhibited elements that were already incorporated throughout his property which included a dynamic modern look along with a galvanized coating to help preserve and match other metal railings in the back of his house.

Bryden Pied-a-terre is owned and operated by Megan Bryde, who is a passionate advocate for women executing excellent craft in the trades. She is a woodworker and metalworker who collaborates with general contractors, designers, home owners, and artists to produce custom-made furniture. Excited to share the first build in the new space! Here we go!

Bryden Pied-a-terre works with designers to produce and fabricate custom metal and wood furniture. But, we also love installing artifacts and cultural staples for salons and restaurants. Such as this 15th century rug for Aixois Bistro.

Working with something so old is inspiring. You have to truly plan through the process of handling something so delicate. What areas of the rug are touchable? How can I refrain from getting dust on it? Someone needs to help relieve the weight on the bottom so that there is not much strain on the loops that attach to the artifact at the top.

It was a special install that we loved doing for .

Railings are a great addition to your home and ensure the safety of loved ones in icy weather. They can help fill out and decorate a space as well. This railing was made out of steel, sand blasted, primed, and powder-coated black with a satin sheen.

A stair was added for more convenient stepping.

In light of the corona virus, Bryden Pied-a-terre is accepting painting jobs and deck jobs to keep students from the Kansas City Art Institute or other abled individuals employed. Painting and deck jobs 1) only consist of two-three people 2) have minimum exposure to other people. 3) consistently use respirators and gloves to keep clean. If you have a job that I can put two to three students on to keep them employed for this hard time. Please let me know. They will be closely monitored and run by yours truly.

Bryden Pied-a-terre actualizes the designs for architects and designers using traditional fine working techniques and construction in Kansas City, Missouri while supporting the careers of women in building and making.

It's an integral part of who I am and who I am meant to be. I firmly believe that Kansas City needs it for the women who want to learn a little bit more about basic construction skills. Once I can lay a foundation for the business, we will start weekend programs for women who would like to learn basic building and construction skills for free.
