With the help of our Gardens at Sunset event is minimizing waste by using all compostable cups, plates, and cutlery. Thanks to Compost Collective KC, our event waste will be converted into nutrient-rich compost to help grow more food!

The Golden Raffle for Gardens at Sunset 2024 has some great prizes this year with a chance to win your choice of three trips for two people!

You'll be able to choose between a Tropical Oasis/Arctic Sanctuary, LaCosta Legends & Champions Golf Experience, or Wine Down to Healdsburg for a wine tasting & hotel stay.

The Golden Raffle webpage will go live on Thursday, August 29th at noon. Visit https://gardensatsunset.org/raffle/ for more info and click the link to purchase your ticket.

Tickets are $100 each and there are only 200 available. We will announce the winner at 8:15pm at Gardens at Sunset. You do not have to be present to win.

The Beanstalk Children's Garden will be closed Saturday, August 24th.

The KCCG Development and Event staff has been working hard putting together some awesome silent auction items for Gardens at Sunset 2024!

You'll be able to bid on these items at the event and you can even join in the fun from home! Look out for an announcement on our social media accounts for when the online link goes live.

We've got some awesome items for our silent auction at Gardens at Sunset 2024 including this signed jersey from Super Bowl Champion Nick Allegretti and a signed football from future Super Bowl Champion 😉 Marquise "Hollywood" Brown.

You'll be able to bid on these items at the event and online when the early bidding opens up at noon on Thursday, September 5th, which just happens to be when the Chiefs play their season opener. Go Chiefs!

We'd like to thank the faculty of Notre Dame de Sion High School who volunteered with us to help put together some unique items that will be available this year at the Mercantile at Gardens at Sunset 2024!

They made bath sachets and labeled teas and spices that were harvested straight from the Beanstalk Children's Garden. They also prepped the vases for the Gardens at Sunset bouquets.

If you're coming to Gardens at Sunset this year, make sure to swing by the Mercantile and shop for these items along with other garden-fresh goodies like jams, jellies, sauces, and honey!

The window is slowly closing to get your fall cool season plants in the ground so come on out and shop for plants for your fall garden!

And if you're interested in getting the most out of your fall garden, come to our free workshop this Friday at noon - Extending the Gardening Season.

Many cool season crops can grow well into the winter with a little protection from the elements. We'll talk about what crops grow best and how to extend them into the winter and how to get a jump on harvest in the early spring.

This weather is getting us excited for the fall and and that means Gardens at Sunset 2024 and the Fall Family Festival 2024 are right around the corner!

Both events are held in our magical Beanstalk Children's Garden, which is at its peak in September.

Gardens at Sunset, held on Sept 7th, is our annual fundraiser that helps us fulfill our mission to ensure that families, schools, and community groups have the affordable resources and knowledge they need to be successful in growing their own fruits and vegetables.

The Fall Family Festival, held on Sept 21st, is our annual free festival where families can enjoy a day of Veggie & Fruit Tasting, Garden Crafts, Bug Exhibits, Hand Painting, Yard Games, Scavenger Hunt, Free Basil Plants, and more!

The Curiosity Garden in our Beanstalk Children's Garden is so fascinating. Among all the fun varieties, some of the favorites include the Toothache Plant that can temporarily numb your gums when you taste it, the Hibiscus Flower that can grow to the size of your face and only lasts a day but seems to last through the whole summer, the Popcorn Plant that smells like popcorn but isn't edible, and Celosia with its beautiful and unique heads.
