Statement from Principal Chief Geoffrey Standing Bear:

"Killers of the Flower Moon" is an Osage story of trust and betrayal as directed by Martin Scorsese. While watching, you need to know that this is a true story. Many Osage lives were lost, and whole family trees were forever altered. The film lays bare the truth and injustices done to us, while challenging history not to be repeated.

We honor our ancestors who endured this time by continuing to survive and ensuring our future, guided by our Wahzhazhe culture and traditions.

Today, the Delaware Nation published an official resolution denouncing claims made by Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania, a 501(c)(3) whose members claim to be of Lenape descent, of their nationhood and attempts to seek state recognition.

As a recognized Corporation posing as an Indigenous Nation (CPAIN), this 501(c)(3) and its efforts to gain governmental recognition "undermines the sovereign rights of the Lenape Nations and authority of their governments to self-determine their own citizenship requirements, religious leader, histories, and cultural narratives."

Here at AIHREA, we stand with the Delaware Nation in their efforts to set the record straight on CPAINs in the northeast and across the country.
