Oddly Correct
roasting excellent coffees on Troost Ave. KCMO. We aim to freak out your morning cup. There are vegan and gluten allergy friendly options as well.
At the shop, one will find by-the-cup coffee brewing and espresso extractions of intriguing coffees along with classic milk (or dairy alternative) based drinks as well as new takes on cafe classics like our Bourbon Vanilla Latte and rotating seasonal drinks. Take it for the road in one of our reusable glass to-go cups, or lean on a plank of wood with us. Our biscuits and biscuit sandwiches are leg
To keep our crew safe we’re staying closed today. Happy New Year and you all be safe as well!
Hey y’all, it’s that time again! We could use your jars lids and sleeves returned for reuse at the shop this weekend! If you’ve got some extras, bring them by for a dollar back for every complete set! Put it towards some coffee, or just take your cash and make a weekend beer run. We recommend ...
SUGAR.
We’re constantly re-evaluating the “what” and “how” of our business in light of the ever-clarifying “why” behind it all. If two of our main goals are for people to feel welcome in our shop and to have the opportunity to introduce them to what better coffee has to offer us, why should we continue to operate in a way that can have the impact of communicating to many “you’re not one of us... you’re just not ready for this”?
So, we have begun offering SUGAR in drip coffee and all espresso beverages. We took our time and made a delicious simple syrup with cane sugar and have the perfect sweetening ratios all worked out for each drink. Personally, I have to admit I was skeptical... but a cup of Good Girl drip with cane sugar SLAPS.
Don’t worry, we’re still keeping pour overs served black to highlight the intrinsic beauty we think coffee has to offer. But how will we ever have the opportunity to share a cup of mind-opening brew if our what and how communicates “you’re not welcome here”?
Tomorrow is TACO TUESDAY! We’ll have two incredible frozen taco treats (both vegan!) for you while they last...

Despite the sudden lifting of requirements in Kansas City, not all our staff (and certainly not every customer) have had the opportunity to get vaccinated. So we’re still asking for the kindness of wearing a mask over your nose and mouth while in Oddly Correct. Once we’ve had time to properly evaluate what these changes in CDC recommendations mean for us, we’ll decide what changes can be made to our service. Thanks for your care and understanding!
By switching to reusable containers for all to-go beverages, you’ve helped us keep over 68,000 paper and plastic cups out of landfills just in the past year! The switch to glass has been better received than we could have imagined, so we thank you for going on this ride with us.
A big part of making this a sustainable practice is the return and reuse of every jar. We know they’re cute, but don’t hold onto these bad boys for too long! We want to get many many uses out of every new jar we bring in, and that means relying on our customers to change their coffee drinking habits, especially when on the go. So help us make this a closed loop system and return your old jars, rinsed,(remember you get $1 back for each one!) along with the lid and coozie. Thanks KC. Much love to you 💙
New on brew bar: Mujeres de El Tambo, Colombia.
This coffee comes from a group of roughly 140 women coffee producers, all farm owners and heads of household in the Cauca region of Colombia called "Asociación de Mujeres Productoras Agropecuarias del Cauca" (association of women agricultural producers of Cauca.)Now in their 22nd year of operation, AMACA focuses on producing high-quality coffee to reinvest into their farms and villages. Our importing partners at in Minnesota pay a premium above the price of the coffee itself to aid in supporting to group's goals of improving the quality of life for their members and their members’ families. We're thrilled to offer their very excellent coffee to you and play a part in supporting their efforts as well.
TL;DR - social media isn't everything, and our success is not reliant on likes.
To be honest, I've been in a social media slump lately. With the heaviness of some of the things going on in the world, the barrage of self-promotion and cycle of thinking of something interesting to share or posting an engaging photograph to keep people interested is feeling a bit empty. There are just so many other things that feel like they require more energy or are more worthy of putting energy into. For example, and hosted a training for anti-racism focused de-escalation training that Cassidy (cafe manager) and I attended that was challenging, illuminating and gave a new perspective for how we approach conflict of all kinds. Or creating more healthy patterns of communication for our team, by setting clear standards and expectations (and being better about adhering to those myself.) Or dealing with gathering years of business records for a routine tax audit. Or just the day-to-day tasks associated with running a small business and trying to lead a team of people. Not to mention protecting enough energy to be present for my three daughters and wife, and enough time to keep my own mind and body healthy (lately I've rediscovered my love of reading fiction, particularly sci-fi)
Despite feeling like I've dropped the ball in the particular arena of engaging everyone via social media, you continue to show up and buy bags of coffee, eat biscuits and drink espresso. So thanks. Maybe it's time to rethink how we as a company utilize this tool and platform, since the goal doesn't have to come from a place of "likes = revenue" ... anyway, I think I speak for all at Oddly when I say we're very grateful for the support people give us each day and the generosity our customers have for our crew. We'll keep doing our best to stay grounded and stay true to our commitments of kicking ass, being kind, being ourselves and growing in understanding what that means all the time. - Mike
PS, here's a picture of my girls from a chilly evening walk yesterday. Happy Earth Day!
Oddly Correct Coffee has joined forces with , and to co-present the virtual OFF- BROADWAY run of “Missed Connections”! Tickets ($25 - $27) for this limited engagement are on sale now at 59e59.org
Missed Connections is a live, intimate and interactive play with magic, conceived for virtual experience - a magician’s cosmic love story, inspired by the work of Haruki Murakami, Marshall McLuhan and Derek DelGaudio (In and Of Itself). The play, which explores the fleeting, unspoken bonds that can emerge between total strangers, takes 20 audience members on a search for the invisible thread that connects them all. Chris Jones writes in his rave review in the Chicago Tribune that “our random, unfair and pandemoniac world dissolves” in Missed Connections, “healed by connective tissue that you just have been too unobservant to perceive.” Take a leap and be a part of its pioneering mission across the universe.
Ticket buyers will also receive a package that includes a sample bag of limited edition "Missed Connections"-themed Oddly Correct Coffee with original art by and a special surprise from Wesley Stace, shipped to their home for enjoying pre/during/post show. Gregory had a chance to experience this show earlier this year and it is not to be missed!

Tomorrow is first Wednesday again, which means we’ll be closed for a paid rest day for all staff. In this climate where small businesses are doing their best to keep it going, we highly appreciate every drink, every biscuit, every bag of coffee you buy (from us or other truly small and locally owned and operated coffee spots in KC). That’s why is disheartening sometimes to continue to see lines wrapped around the big chain drive-thru down the street. No matter what your coffee preference is, there’s a lovely KC biz doing their thing for you. Thanks for all the people who give Oddly a shot, and while we’re closed tomorrow check out one of the following great small businesses working in coffee in KC:
Hours this weekend! Saturday 8-3, Sunday 8-3! We’ll be here with tasty coffee and homemade biscuits.
