Please join the Avila University Alumni Board and Julie Thomas, Registrar from the Daughters of the American Revolution, Prairie Chapter at Avila, Hooley-Bundschu Library, Inspirational Learning Room on Tuesday, April 23.

Julie will share with us steps to look for Revolutionary War Patriots (this could be a woman donating food, a gun, lodging or a man fighting with a militia). She will also help point attendees to available resources, and terminology.

We encourage you to bring your own computer and some ancestor names you may want to search. We look forward to seeing you and hearing about your connections to history.

Shannon Mays Eason

Shannon travels the United States captivating audiences with her limitless energy, communication skills, and infectious smile. With over 30 years of experience, she brings a long list of attributes to the table. As a leader in the industry, she is an instructor for the World Wide College of Auctioneering as well as the Professional Ringmen’s Institute (PRI).

Shannon is excited to see you tonight as she returns for her second year and joins Shawna Peña-Downing '12 for a fantastic night in support of student scholarships!

Shawna Peña-Downing ’12 is back this year as Master of Ceremonies Get ready to welcome Shawna back to the stage this evening!

Growing up in a small-town Shawna was fortunate to have the opportunity to explore and discover her love for art and creating art. As she grew up and experienced different forms, styles, and techniques, her passions became pretty clear. The theater was the beginning of her artistic journey. "Theatre, which encompassed dance and music, and visual arts consumed most of my curiosity. I began to appreciate all art more and more."

Her need for lifelong learning, that curiosity, and continuous passion allows her to perform and create quality experiences that have the ability to inspire, entertain, and educate. We are so excited to have Shawna serve as our MC for her FOURTH year!
