As a reminder, next week is our annual VH garage sale, Friday 9/6 and Saturday 9/7. We will be putting up signs next week near our monuments and will post on Craig's List, but feel free to increase the exposure for your sale and the neighborhood's by posting your own advertisements on the various sites out there!

As we have in years past, we will have our neighborhood garage sale the weekend after Labor Day, Friday and Saturday, September 8th and 9th. There will be signs available on the front porch at 700 W Santa Fe Trail starting Tuesday 9/6. Feel free to advertise your sale and mention the neighborhood sale on the garage sale advertising websites, as we know the neighborhood sales bring the best crowds.

The recent property tax assessments have hit South KC and Verona Hills especially hard. There is a webinar this Tuesday (6/27) at 7 pm with incredibly helpful information on the appeals process. It is hosted by a former county official who is providing a road map on how to best win your appeal.

Verona Hills is a very tight knit community, and while we generally look out for one another, sometimes bad things can still happen. This was the case last Friday afternoon. A van approached a youth walking from Timber Trace back home to Verona Hills. Below is a link to what transpired as well as a copy of the text in case you’re not on Nextdoor. We did a check of cameras near there but did not see a similar van actually enter our neighborhood.

If you have little ones, please take time to review your family’s safety procedures should something like this occur again.

He kept trying to talk to him so he took off running and hid in the bushes of a nearby house. The van pulled up and stopped near the bushes so he took off running again, into a backyard down into the woods. He then sprinted the rest of the way home and got here safely.
PLEASE be on the lookout for an older model beige minivan, possibly a Chrysler. The man was heavy set, tan skin with dark hair in a bun. Bright green Reebok sweatshirt. A female was driving but he couldn’t see her face. PLEASE share. We are filing a police report. Saying prayers of thanks that he is ok!!”

Back by popular demand, we will be taking advantage of the City of Kansas City’s Neighborhood Clean-Up Assistance Program, which offers greatly discounted pricing on dumpsters. We will have 5 large dumpsters on Pennsylvania in front of the park on Saturday, June 10th, from 8:00 to noon.

As a reminder, no appliances, paint cans, or anything that contains hazardous substances, everything else is a go! Please no large construction project debris so we have room for everyone.

We will have volunteers to help with bulky items and to try to prevent any of those items from being dumped. If you have an hour that morning and you would be willing to help, please email [email protected] to sign up! Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!
