KCKPS Harp Ensemble

So proud of Harp Ensemble members, Denise, Rianna & Mariana, who will perform with the Sumner Academy Orchestra at the KMEA Convention this morning!!

Great job, harpists! It was especially difficult to get set up with such a short time, but you kept your cool, and we'll learn and do better with our organization next time. BUT your playing was amazing. Shout out to the beginners! I was impressed! I was just overall super happy. Practice Canon and see you on January 5th!

The KCKPS Harp Ensemble will perform at Crown Center on Friday, December 16th, 2016 at 8:00 pm. I'm so proud of the students, but especially the 2016 beginning harp class. This will be their first concert. We will share the performance time with the KCK Mariachi Ensemble, directed by Bridget Gish. We hope to see you there!

Current Harp Ensemble Members: If you'd like to help at the Information Sessions, let me know. Our first rehearsal will be on Thursday, September 8th…same time, same place, but new music to learn!

Harp Ensemble Audition & Information Sessions for the 2016-2017 school year are coming up soon for new students interested in joining! They're held at Eisenhower Middle School from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. You must submit a form and sign up for a time from your school's music teacher. The first session is Thursday, September 1st and the 2nd is Tuesday, September 6th. Contact Ms. DeSotel if you have questions.

Hi, Harpists,
The schedule says we have rehearsal today, Monday, October 26th, but due to conflicts, we cannot meet. Sorry! This Thursday we cannot meet because I have a school concert. We will resume on Thursday, November 6th. PLEASE PRACTICE! Contact us if you have a broken string or any questions. I'm also ordering the t-shirts this week. Thank you!

WELCOME BACK, HARP ENSEMBLE 2014-15!

Dear Harp Ensemble Member,

Ms. DeSotel and Mrs. Smreka are excited for a new year of performing harp music. We want to invite you to the first rehearsal on Thursday, September 11th at Eisenhower Middle School from 4:30 – 5:45 p.m.

We will have goodies to share, and will hand out and rehearse the music to be learned for our many performing opportunities this year.
Be ready to share what you did over the summer, and also tell us how your school year is going so far! We also need to get your t-shirt size, and if anyone loves to be creative, we would encourage you to submit a t-shirt design for the Ensemble. Give us your ideas on color choices, too.

Some of our summer highlights include that Ms. DeSotel traveled 2,000 miles roundtrip to Iowa and Michigan to see family. She really enjoyed teaching the few harp lessons she could squeeze into her schedule! She also took a class in June and July, BUT all of that isn’t as exciting as Mrs. Smreka’s news. Her husband, Dejan, has now moved to the United States, and we can thank him in person for helping to create the Harp Ensemble website!!

Hi, Harpists! Monday, June 9th we play for the SAI meeting at Asbury Methodist Church at 75th & Nall. Remember to arrive at 5:30 p.m. and we perform at 7:00 p.m. We should be done around 7:40 p.m. We will play Morning (old), Habanera, Believe Me, Introductions, Hejaz, Reverie/Elegy, and Triptic. Inbox me or comment if you can't go. It will be a fun performance!
