Over the weekend, a new athlete was crowned Fastest Man in the World when Noah Lyles struck gold in the 100m dash. But did you know that this title once belonged to a KCKPS alumni? Maurice Greene, a 1993 graduate of F.L. Schlagle is a four time olympic medalist, winning two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze in the Sydney Olympics (2000) and the Athens Olympics (2004).

In 1999, Greene broke the 100 world record when he recorded a 9.79 dash. During his time at KCKPS, he swept the Kansas Class 6A state championships in 100 and 200 three straight years from 1991-93 while also leading the Stallions to first-place finishes in the 400 relay each spring.
