It is our solemn duty to announce the episcopal transition of the Right Reverend Dr. Alfreda Lynette Wiggins-Ball on this LORDs Day.

The second Sunday in November 1969, a young aspiring Alfreda Lynette Wiggins acknowledged the call on her life to preach the gospel of CHRIST, her text that very Sunday came out of Philippians 3:13-14, “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended; but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before. I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of GOD in CHRIST JESUS.”

In 1995 the Right Reverend Dr. Alfreda Lynette Wiggins-Ball was the first female to serve in the pastorate of the historic John Wesley United Methodist Church, the largest African American United Methodist congregation in Baltimore City. Dr. Wiggins was actively involved in the Baltimore-Washington Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. She is the past Chair of the Baltimore-West District Committee on Ministry; and a member of the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, where she previously served as Chair of the Conference Relations Committee and the Sermon Review Committee.

Dr. Wiggins has served as a Trustee and Vice-President of the Old Baltimore and Annapolis Board of Missions of the Baltimore-Washington Annual Conference. She also served on the Conference Commission on the Role and Status of Women in the Church and the Conference Task Force on Clergy and Congregations as Risk. Dr. Wiggins has preached in hundreds of churches both nationally and internationally. After sixteen years, in June 2011, Dr. Wiggins retired from pastoral ministry; while retired, she accepted yet another appointment to serve as Senior Pastor of the St. Luke Baltimore, UMC.

While Dr. Wiggins served in the United Methodist Church, she was a proud member of the Star of Bethlehem Spiritual Temple, she united under the leadership of of His Grace, the Very Reverend Bishop William E. Hamilton and continued to serve under the leadership of His Grace, the Very Reverend Bishop Laytee S. Mitchell, Jr.; dually she served on the Board of Directors of our National Church, the Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of CHRIST, Inc.

Please keep the entire Wiggins-Ball family in your prayer as well as the St. Luke Baltimore and the Baltimore-Washington Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, the Star of Bethlehem Spiritual Temple and the Fourth Episcopal Diocese. We yet profess, that Spirit was never Born, thus Spirit can never Die.
