Since 3-year-old Keila was born, her mother Natalie has struggled to find a proper diagnosis for her and works several jobs to help pay for the medical appointments. Thankfully, since sponsorship, their family has received healthcare and financial assistance to aid their journey in finding answers.
Natalie's son, Christhofer, has also benefitted greatly from sponsorship. Since joining the leadership programs, his once shy demeanor has transformed into confidence and a desire to help his community.

So why is what Children International does important? Let’s explain.
Poverty is one of the most complex social issues of our time. Beyond a lack of opportunity and access to financial resources, poverty includes things like malnutrition, poor hygiene, deplorable living conditions, domestic gang violence, and early exposure to drugs – impacting every aspect of life from childhood through adulthood.
About half of those living in poverty are children, and we believe ending poverty starts with them. Without help, children in poverty become adults in poverty. Their future children are born into poverty, and the cycle continues.
Together, we can put an end to generational poverty with a long-term, customized program that helps children get the education, life skills and confidence to change their lives – and the lives of future generations too. Our unique, global approach focuses on four key areas:
