Bringing new life to a historic building like the Webster School while preserving an important part of Kansas City history is an incredibly rewarding experience.

We worked closely with Helix Architecture + Design to create a functional headquarters for The Kansas City Symphony, without compromising the historic architecture and feel of this late 1800's building.

It’s nearly impossible to talk about the history of Kansas City without talking about music. And it’s nearly impossible to make music without listening to the songs and stories of the past.

“Everything we do as The Kansas City Symphony is rooted in history and art and in relating what was to what is,” said Danny Beckley, Executive Director of The Kansas City Symphony.

So when The Kansas City Symphony needed to expand its presence beyond the Kauffman Center, it looked to renovate and transform a beautiful, historic building into something practical for today and adaptable for tomorrow.

We worked hand-in-hand with Helix Architecture + Design and The Kansas City Symphony to transform the historic Webster School into a space that would meet the symphony’s evolving needs.

DIRTT Environmental Solutions walls allowed us to accomplish these divergent goals by segmenting the building into private offices without hiding its original features or permanently adding any structure that didn’t feel authentic.

We're creating walls that can keep a secret.

Utilizing DIRTT Environmental Solutions technology, our wall solutions ensure loud speech is not audible on the other side of the wall.

Which equates to patient's vulnerable information being kept private.

When walls are designed and assembled off-site, like in prefab construction, designers and contractors are able to begin with the end in mind.

Unlike drywall that’s installed onsite, these prefab walls are designed using ICE software, and can be cut down to 1/16” of an inch, resulting in less sound transmission.
