GKW had a great time meeting and networking with key people in Colorado commercial construction at the General Contractor Showcase in Denver!
It was a great opportunity to discuss what GKW does and who we are in front of some decision-makers with general contractors in the area.
Thank you to the AGC Colorado for hosting this great event!
Waterproofing is complete and fluid-applied air barrier is being installed currently on the new additions at Park Hill South High School in Riverside, MO.
GKW still has caulking and expansion joints to install when the building is ready.
News Article on the history of the Lee Buildings: The history of the Lee Buildings are pretty incredible. Here is a snapshot in the Salina Post Friday. Also see picture of historical plaque installed on the west side of H.D. Lee Mercantile Company (Building 1) when the renovations into lofts was complete in 2020.

Great job to Colton Wilson and his team at our Colorado location. They kicked off the below grade waterproofing at the foundation walls at the Carnegie Library in Manitou Springs, CO.
The University Hill Elementary School was built in 1905 and is currently undergoing restoration work to take care of failing mortar joints, damaged brick and stone, as well as waterproofing and rebuilding of the East staircase stone stringer walls.
The building was originally built with Lyons Red Sandstone from Lyons County, Colorado. The stone is very soft and will need to be replaced in many areas.
The waterproofing and fluid-applied air barrier is currently being installed on the Docking Building in Topeka, KS, which is across the street from the Kansas State Capitol Building.
Here's a little photo dump from the Lee Lofts Phase 2 restoration project in Salina, KS.
Very proud of Daniel Conley and his team that have been working on this project since September of last year.
There is still a few months left of work before we're finished with our scopes but the building is coming together nicely. Can't wait to see some before and after photos when its finished!

Stone sculptures, stair treads, limestone walls and caps, granite curbs, etc are all being removed and labeled and transported off site to be cleaned and restored and put back next year. It's a tedious process to make sure each piece is correctly catalouged.
The before-and-after pics of this one are mind-blowing! 💪👀👀🤯🤯

In recognition of Women in Construction Week, today we are highlighting some special women that work behind-the-scenes handling many VERY important aspects of our company. We couldn't do it without them!
Pictured from left to right, we have Krista Zahorsky, our Office and Finance Manager. Lou Anne Wilson, front desk and office admin. Meaghan Baker, administrative assistant.
These women are VITAL to our day-to-day operations and we would like to thank them for their contributions to the success of our team!
Proud to have had our part in the masonry, air barrier, waterproofing, and joint sealants on this project.
Game time is getting close. What's on your menu today?
The Super Bowl is tomorrow! Kansas City Chiefs VS San Francisco 49ers. Who has big plans? Who do you think will take home the win?
Granite stair treads and limestone pieces are being removed one-by-one, tagged and catelogued, and hauled to our storage yard.
Hundreds and hundreds of stones to go, but progress is moving along nicely.
Proud to be part of the ceremonial beam signing yesterday on the Kansas State Docking Building project in Topeka, KS.
Another great project with the Hutton team. Looking forward to a successful project as we get this thing kicked off!
GKW sent a couple of emerging field leaders to the World of Concrete in Las Vegas this week for an intensive 2-day Foreman Development Training course.
They learned many new concepts and ideas for being better leaders and are anxious to work with our operations team to develop these ideas into our day-to-day work back at home.
This is the second year in a row we've sent team members to this training course and have received a lot of great feedback. We're looking forward to implementing these ideas!
The first of HUNDREDS of large granite and limestone pieces have started to be removed at the Kansas City City Hall project.
These pieces will be hauled off site to be cleaned and restored while a new concrete lid is placed over the existing parking garage and waterproofed.
Then the restored pieces, along with many new pieces, will be brought back and reinstalled.
Notice the labeling attached to the stone. Each piece has been mapped and labeled so they can be replaced exactly where they were removed from.
GKW was part of the Cedar Station Park and the Lenexa Justice Center in 2023. Proud to be part of both of these great projects.
We're ready for 2024! Layers of asphalt being poured. Windows getting installed. Three major projects have been taking shape in Lenexa this year with plans to all open in 2024.
Cedar Station Park visitors will enjoy multiple features this spring. Work is underway on a new parking lot, restroom and shelter at this park near Kansas Highway 10 and Canyon Creek Boulevard.
When Sar-Ko-Par Aquatic Center opens for the upcoming outdoor pool season, visitors will enjoy new amenities like a lazy river, water slide complex, lap pool, interactive play area for little visitors and ample shade features.
The future Lenexa Justice Center, at Prairie Star Parkway and Britton Street, is on track to open in late summer 2024. This new campus for the Lenexa Police Department and Municipal Court will enhance security, training, communications, dispatch and records and evidence storage, in addition to welcoming areas for public activities.
Be on the lookout! Early next year we will be sending out a company newsletter pertaining to all things GKW! We can't wait!

GKW Restoration wrapping up a historic masonry restoration project in Kansas City, MO.
A lot of tuckpointing, brick replacement, stone replacement, new limestone window sills, caulking, and more.
We are in the final washdown and cleanup stage for our scope of work. This project was finished ahead of schedule and we can't wait to see the final product once the scaffold is removed.
A failed roof scupper and downspout led to water running down the face of this building for years. This caused most of the mortar joints to be washed away and brick to be spalling or broken.
GKW is replacing many bricks, tuckpointing, and doing a biological wash as we work our way around the building.
