If we take time to listen, they have a lot to say.
Back to the basics is starting to pay off. Thank you Phil Haugen Horsemanship for the help. If you ever have the opportunity to do a clinic, Gordy and I highly recommend it! In addition check out Winters for body work!!! Sorry for the language 😳. I didn’t realize it was there.

Seasoning horses is a phase of the training process that can be one of the most mentally challenging parts of horsemanship. On this episode, I'm sharing some thoughts on how to approach building a horse's confidence in unfamiliar situations away from home and the psychology behind setting expectations for seasoning a horse.

Success is not the absence of failure, but rather a product of it.
In order to put yourself in the position to be successful, you have to first put yourself in the position to be challenged. Learn fast, fail forward.
You will never out perform your own self image.
As the saying goes, "those who believe they can and those who believe they can't are both usually right."
Don't let your own self worth get in the way of reaching your highest potential. You are capable of more than you think.
No matter what stage of training you are at, we are all living some version of the same journey. It’s a journey filled with peaks, valleys, frustrations and victories. Understanding how to navigate the ups and downs of the horsemanship journey is the key to maintaining momentum and continuing to progress 1% one day at a time.
On this episode, I'm sharing some thoughts on riding the waves of the training process and things to consider as you are building your training program.

Our horses are a reflection of our own potential.
They are doing the best they can with the signals, communication, and leadership that we exhibit.
To help your horses be their best, you have to do what it takes to be your best, first.
We'll never know the maximum potential that our horses have if we never reach our own maximum potential as trainers.
Prioritize learning. Prioritize personal growth. Your investment in yourself will show up in more ways than one.
Take time to enjoy your horse.
As life speeds by, we often miss these little moments that remind us why we love what we do—why we love the horse.
This week, I challenge you to slow things down. Try to relax. Enjoy the moment. Be present with your horse.
Even if you only have 15 minutes with them, make that time meaningful. Don’t rush. Don’t overcomplicate things. Simply enjoy that moment with your horse.
Your value lies in why you succeeded, not why you failed.
Oftentimes, we don’t show ourselves enough gratitude for the things that we have overcome and achieved in the past.
It’s good to analyze why something failed, but if we dissect those failures for too long, we will find ourselves stuck in a rut.
Start dissecting the wins just as much, if not more than, the failures. Be kind to yourself, and remember to reinforce your achievements, not the times when you fell short.
This statement is so true!
Your knowledge is only as valuable as your application.
In the horsemanship journey, understanding the system is only the first step. You can have all the knowledge in the world, but if you don’t apply it in the correct way, you will not see the results you are looking for.
It's the combination of knowledge, consistent action, and correct repetition that generates the transformation, both for your horses and yourself.

Gordy and I got the pleasure to go to a Phil Haugen Horsemanship clinic in South Dakota. We had an incredible 4 days and learned so many valuable tools. We had a great time with old friends and met new ones too.
This was one of the best clinics I have ever attended and Gordy and I learned so much especially about each other.
